With saddened hearts we announce the untimely passing of Iain Rose in Victoria, BC at the age of 47. Iain was diagnosed with terminal cancer and passed 3 months later. An inspiration and legend to so many, even through the immense difficulty of cancer he was a light to so many and maintained that he was ‘lucky’ through it all.

Iain was predeceased by his father John Rose; He is survived by his wife Kristen, his three children Nolan, Conor, and Hannah, their mother Teresa, his mother Gill, his brother Andrew, his uncle Andy and aunt Marg Oades, along with cousins David Bird, Caroline Bailey, Richard Oades and Sally Oades. Survived by his colossal community of friends, Iain’s spirit will forever remain a force, connecting and linking his community and through his wonderful children embodying his remarkable characteristics.

Born in Birmingham, UK Iain completed his Mechanical Engineering degree at the University of Liverpool in 1998. During this time Iain began DJing, throwing after hour parties in Liverpool’s late-night scene. He then spent time working and playing in Australia. He moved back home to England and worked in London for some time before moving to Vancouver, BC where he started his own tech company and his first son Nolan was born. Iain then made the move to Victoria where he had two more children Hannah & Conor, squeezed in a cross Canada tour with his band, and had a self-taught side job doing sound for local Victoria shows, all while working full time in tech. Iain’s love and commitment to his children never wavered even in hard times, he was an exceptional father. In 2019 Iain met the love of his life Kristen, and they married on July 23, 2022 in Victoria, BC. Kristen and Iain would often be seen together at social gatherings, live music venues, festivals, at the beach swimming with the kids, or taking his sportscar for a spin or to the racetrack.

Iain was known for his love of music, sports, and cars, and played the drums in various bands. Always a gentleman, but never hesitating to bring out his wild side, Iain lived life to the fullest and was the maker of his own journey. He did what most would call impossible or ‘out of this world’. He was a self-made man and achieved his dream job as a Sales Solution Engineer, his dream life with Kristen and his children.

Iain accomplished everything he wanted and more in this lifetime and will always be remembered as a man who gave his whole heart and nothing less.

Iain, didn’t spend nearly enough time with you, such a globe trotter. After listening to your friends speak it is quite clear that you were well loved by all who met you. A big man with a big heart. Good night cousin sleep well. X

Iain you were a total force of nature from BMX biking with you and Andy in the woods to your love of music and total disregard for the norm. It will always make me smile the times you made your parents raise their eyebrows right to the end you were unique in every way and I’m sure that force will carry with your wife and your children. May you rest in peace but make one hell of a party up there – sleep well, you touched so many people and will continue to!

Sadly our nephew Iain Rose passed earlier this month.
He was quite a unique individual though, in his case, unique is such an inadequate word. He accomplished so much in a wide variety of ways it would take many of us so many lifetimes to achieve a fraction of what he did.
Iain you are dearly missed but so fondly remembered.

Dear Iain, I will never forget your kindness and your immaculate ability on the drummer’s throne. You made our few shows a site to see when you came out to greet us at the packed Yates theatre in my home town just minutes before you hit the stage and blew everyone’s mind during your cross Canada Pink Floyd tour. After the show we stayed up all night talking and playing music at my studio. You made a larger than life impression on me my friend and I will never forget you.

My deepest condolences to all of your loved ones and good friends you had made.

    Most sincerely … King

He was my mate at senior school. We tried playing together at school
I was into punk. Iain knew more than 3 chords….. We went our separate ways. Iain went on to be one amazing musician. He was a lifelong mate that would always be up for the banter that I will sorely miss. From taking the piss out of one another on our CB radios as kids, to messaging one another on Facebook. Iain you were a one off and a beautiful soul. We will play my punk version of Mustang Sally again on the other side together X

The pain is real and I still can’t believe really that he has passed. He was such a light and brightened so many lives. He will be deeply missed at Snyk. I am grateful to have had the chance to meet him.

So sad to hear this. My elder girls were shocked and didn’t believe me. I don’t think Helena ever met him! I have just found the details of Nolan’s birth along with photos which makes it all more powerful. Iain lived like to the full and loved his family. Now he’s out of pain and watching over them even if they don’t realise it yet. They will never forget him or this time but time will dull the ache. I have difficulty believing it.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this sad time.
