On Thursday, May 26th, 2022, Irene Elizabeth Matheson (Betty), age 94, passed away peacefully. Widow of the late Hollis Matheson. She will be lovingly missed by her daughter Lori, son-in-law Darryl, grandchildren Adrian & Mitch, Evan, Lara, and great grandchildren, Ben, and Anastasia. She is also survived by her sister Margaret, her brother Darryl, sister-in-law Suzie, nephews, David and Jeremy, and nieces Cathy and Kasey.
Betty was born in Treherne, Manitoba. She spent her early years on a homestead at Clear Lake. She worked for many years at Hudson’s Bay Company as a personal shopper. She moved to Victoria from Winnipeg in 1991. She was an active member of the James Bay New Horizons, and the Pro Pat Legion Travel Club 292. Betty loved to go for walks along Dallas Road and spend time with her family. At Betty’s request, cremation has taken place and there will be no service held.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Selkirk Assisted Living and 5 A/B South at Victoria General hospital for their care and kindness.

REBECCA Betty was such a sweet lovely lady. The support staff at Selkirk will miss her very much. Our condolences to her family.
I am sorry for everyone’s loss. It is never easy to lose a mother, a grandmother, a sister or a friend. -Auntie Betty, You will be greatly missed. As I am typing this, my mind is flooded with many memories. Each one of them special and each one of them good.. I know that one day we will see each other again:)
