Isabel was a longtime resident of Oak Bay and was predeceased by her father and Mother. Isabel loved to travel and made many friends on those travels. She will be missed by many here and afar. Thanks to her neighbors for their friendship and support and thanks to the wonderful staff at Van Isle Home Care who made it possible for her to stay home until the end, that is what she wanted. No service by request.

Condolences may be offered to the family below.

    In tribute to Dearest Isabel
It was with great sadness to hear of our Isabel’s passing, a dear and close friend whom we shared a ‘family togetherness’ and bond for seventeen years. We have so many memories to cherish now since we met when you were a young seventy nine, full of life and energy! We connected on so many levels and I will miss our tea chats, your hearty laugh and wit, and sharing all the occasions and events throughout the year. You always sat ‘shot gun’ front seat and your excitement was infectious!
You loved your home and Oak Bay the day you moved in at age 17, having moved from Winnipeg when your father was with the railroad. I admired how you lived sensibly and independently, tending to your home with a passion that showed off the manicured hedges and neatly cut lawn with your Sunbeam electric mower you’d owned since the 1950’s! As our neighbour, you set a lofty standard of care!
We learned from you, and you taught our daughter “life lessons” and being ‘sensible’ and responsible. You only indulged in fine clothes and modest but classy accessories, always presenting herself with great class and attractiveness. I will miss your stories of world travel far and wide, your camping trips with your mother, working at CFB Naden, your proud reflections of your hard working father at the railroads, and your mothers love of roses and her garden she tended to at first light.
You had shown a great courage to beat cancer and recoup from back surgery while complaining not, but forever grateful of life in general. We have lost a ‘family member’ and wonderful lady, but the sadness it brings inspires the gift of knowing you’re now safe in the Lord’s hands, as you believed devoutly your entire life, reunited with your mom and dad.
Rest in heaven, with your soul in peace forever. Love always Rick, Beverly and Jenna
