    Dear Jennifer and William,
I’m very sorry to hear of your mother, Jane. My sincere condolences to you and the family.
I worked with Jane in the IT department at the Pacific Forestry Centre for several years before I moved to North Vancouver. She was a lovely and caring person to work with.
I kept in touch with Jane for many visits and lunches when I went to Victoria for my holiday.
Jane and I became good friends. I was at her fifty years service award that was held at the Pacific Forestry Centre after her retirement.
My husband, Ernie and I moved to Victoria in June 2019 after I retired. The last visit with lunch at The Victorian I had with her was in February 2020 before the covid. During the covid times, I wrote several letters to her as I couldn’t visit her due to the visitors restrictions. One of the letters came back with an unknown address. I tried to search for her with no luck.
Today, Saturday, February 15th, I wasn’t aware until looking at The Time Colonist online that Jane passed away peacefully. I’m so sorry that I missed the service. She will be missed.

    Kind regards
    Carole Franzen

    Dear William and Jennifer:

I am very sorry you have lost your Mother Jane. She was a good person and a dedicated employee of the Pacific Forestry Centre. I worked there for over thirty years and knew her that entire time. She was always pleasant and cheerful to deal with. I also remember the hard work she did in raising funds for the United Way. I want to apologize for not coming to her Celebration of Life on January 31st but I had a friend arriving from out of town that day and I was unable to make it. Kind regards, Heather Matson

    Dear Soutiere Family,

My husband, Gary, and I extend our sincere condolence to all of the family and friends on the passing of Jane. I am a cousin on the Parrish side. Auntie Peggy and my Dad (Roger) were sister and brother.
My memories of Jane extend back to when she would come to our farmhouse on the Saanich peninsula to babysit us kids (mostly us younger girls.) I have fond memories of Jane’s cheerful smile and a slightly mischievous spirit. She didn’t always follow the rules, shall we say! What fun that was!!
Over the years when Jane and I would meet (usually at family gatherings) it is Jane’s cheerfulness that drew me to her. Her smile was a delight and I could sense her willingness to spend time catching up with our lives. I trust she continues to give smile after smile with her hint of playful rebel in all our hearts.

Sending the Foster family my deepest sympathies. I worked with Jane at Pacific Forestry Centre for 18 years in the IT section and have many memories of her professional and well organized presence keeping things running smoothly. She also often contributed her time and effort to social and community events at the centre and had many interesting stories about the history of PFC as one of the longest term employees. I was very sorry to hear of Jane’s passing.

I wish to extend my condolences to Jennifer, William and your families at the loss of your mother and grandmother, Jane. She was no doubt, very proud of you and all that you have become, and I trust that your fond memories of her will help ease the pain of her loss.
My memories of Jane go back to the early 1950s when her parents and older sister Nancy, lived near my family in Stanstead, Quebec. In those days, no one had TVs so when we got together as families, we made our own entertainment with games, outdoor play and music.
I particularly remember that Jane’s mother (my aunt Peggy) would dress her daughters in beautiful little girl dresses and do their hair in lovely long braids. Jane and Nancy certainly stood out among their 6 rough and tumble boy cousins at our family gatherings.
My dad and Jane’s dad were brothers in a family of six siblings, all of whom played musical instruments including fiddle, banjo, mandolin, accordian and piano. As kids, we looked forward to big family gatherings at our grandparents farmhouse with our many cousins, aunts and uncles, and where there was always lots of food, music, storytelling and laughter.
When it came to laughter, I don’t think Jane ever stopped. It seemed like every time I visited my Soutiere cousins in Victoria in later years, Jane was always smiling and laughing during our visits. I trust that she still is!
