It is with deep sorrow that we say “goodbye” to Jennifer. Predeceased by her husband, Frank, in 1991, Jennifer is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Ron); her son, David (Laureen); her grandchildren, Evan, James and Anna; and her wee Westie, Lewis.

Jennifer was born and raised in Leicestershire, England. She emigrated with her family to Canada in 1953, and they settled in the Interior of BC. Jennifer trained as a registered nurse at Kamloops Inland Hospital and worked for several years at the Invermere hospital. It was while working there that she met her handsome Mountie. Frank and Jennifer married in 1960 and had two children. The family moved several times within BC, followed by 5 years in Ottawa before finally settling in Victoria. Jennifer returned to nursing when her children were in their teens and worked for many years in various geriatric hospitals in Victoria.

Jennifer enjoyed traveling locally and abroad with her family and friends. She was a keen gardener and skilled knitter. She was a long term and well-loved member of the Oak Bay Lawn Bowling Club. But most of all Jennifer was a loving and generous mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed!

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, May 15th, 2023, at 2:00 pm, in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive, Victoria, BC. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your favourite charity. Condolences may be offered to the family below.

    David, Nancy and Family

I was so very pleased to be able to join the celebration of Jennifer’s life via zoom.

To be able to honour Jennifer’s life with you in your words as she loved it is very challenging for those that are left behind.

Our nursing class at Royal Inland Hospital in 1958 was quite an experience for 24 young naive girls ready to face new challenges we were not ready for. For a group of girls to meet together not knowing each other was a very big step for anyone to take. We soon came to realize that amongst us was a very quiet young girl named Jennifer. We loved her accent! We would soon get to hear her happy, loud laugh that would ring through the hallways that would lift your heart. Jennifer’s compassion and kindness for her patients won much respect. Her friendship allowed us to enjoy many happy occasions and overcome times of stress. We were a very close knit group, like sisters. We had fun but worked very hard. When we left training to venture out and experience a new life we never forgot the strong bond we had with each other. I was fortunate along with several others to reconnect with Jennifer after many years. I met with Jennifer in Victoria with another classmate and we had many lovely lunches from time to time, catching up on everyone’s lives. It was so much fun. You will miss your Mom, Grandma and friend so very much, as we will. Those of the class who remain would like to express our deepest sorrow for the loss of such a lovely person and well respected classmate!

Sincerely, Ethel, Beth and the remaining classmates!

My sincere condolences to the Letkeman family. I met Jennifer at the OB Lawn Bowling Club and over the years enjoyed many chats and bowling activities. Jennifer’s quiet manner hid a sharp wit and keen intelligence. I was very much in awe of the serene way she handled her last illness and continued her life with dignity and composure to the end. She will be missed.
