It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Mom and Grandma, Joan Muir, at Sidney All Care Residence.

Mom was a classy lady with great style and her family and friends were the focus of her life.   She was very talented, demonstrating that talent in cooking, baking, sewing and flower arranging.  She was also an excellent painter and furniture refinisher.  Mom was born in Jasper, Alberta but grew up in Valemount BC.  Mom learned to play accordion at a young age and was a wonderful musician.  She played the piano by ear and loved to sing.  Mom was a small-town girl with a big city spirit and worked for Public Works in Edmonton.  During that time, she met a fellow named Walter Muir who worked on the lawns in the summers.  They became friends and that friendship turned to love.  Mom and Dad married on April 21, 1962 and few years later, Leslie was born and then Scott.  During the summer of 1968, our family moved to Victoria.  Mom was worried about the move at first but loved living in Victoria.  She had many friends and valued her time with them.

Mom was predeceased by Dad, her son Cameron and her grandson Mark.  We take comfort in them all being together again.  She is loved and missed by her daughter Leslie (Bob), son Scott and the apple of her eye, granddaughter Heather.    We would like to thank all of the doctors and health care professionals that have looked after our Mom over the years. A big thank you Dr. D. Woodley who looked after both of our parents. Special thanks to the wonderful staff at Sidney All Care who loved our Mom. She loved all of you folks too!

No service by request.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the ‘Little Spirits Garden’ at Royal Oak Burial Park would be greatly appreciated.  This can be done through  www.saanichlegacy.ca. and Mom would love that.  Thank you to our family, friends and new friends for their love and support at this difficult time.  We are so thankful!  We love and miss you Mom!
