Grateful for her long life, we are saddened to announce that on Sunday, June 26, 2022 at the age of 104 Joan peacefully passed away.  She was predeceased by Dick, her beloved husband of 59 years.  Joan is remembered with great love and respect by her family:  daughter, Bonnie (Rick) Carlson, granddaughter Amy (Daniel) Sicolo, grandson Drew (Stefanie) Carlson and great grandchildren, Matteo, Luca, Lyric, Ezra and Selah.

Joan had a quiet strength that reflected her faith in God. She loved her family deeply, cherished each and every friendship, new and old, and was truly an example of living a life filled with gratitude.

Bonnie – my heart is touched to hear of the loss of your dearly loved Mom. My sisters and I grew up hearing our parents (John and Beth Nygard) speak warmly and lovingly of your parents, having met them back in the 40’s in old Glad Tidings. Sometimes a card would arrive in the mail from your parents over the years, bringing love and encouragement from them. Mom and Dad thought a lot of them as sweet genuine friends, and now they are all rejoicing together once more. We are thinking of you and your family with love and caring, and may your heart find a special touch of comfort and peace from the Lord. God bless you.

We were always welcome in Uncle Dick’s home with cheery smiles and encouraging words. Her loving tea parties will always be fondly remembered. Her quietness, peace and love came from her love of Jesus. Now she’s with Him. ❤️

Joan was such a lovely, sincere, and godly lady. Right now she is celebrating Christ as she renews friendships with the Christ Ambassadors of her younger years at GT .

It was such a blessing to know her and to know that we will meet again.

  • Cobie Kruschel

She was an amazing lady. Loved her tuna casseroles. When Bonnie and I went to school together she always prayed with her before school. I now do that with my grandkids as they live in the same house as us. She was an amazing prayer warrior and am glad she is in heaven with a well deserved crown. She will be missed here on earth but is in a much better place. Until we meet again rest in piece knowing you left a great legacy. Vern & Cobie
