Joan Wilton, beloved wife, mother, nana, nurse, and friend, passed away on June 30, 2025, surrounded by love. Born in New Zealand, she married John after attending Baptist College with him. In 1977, she left for a new life in Canada with John and daughters Deborah and Angela, bringing with her an easy laugh and a great pavlova recipe. She could talk to anyone, anywhere. A dedicated nurse and tireless volunteer, she served her church and community with empathy and warmth, and never tired of reading stories to her four grandchildren. Joan’s vibrant spirit and big heart will be missed by all who knew her. Arohanui.

Joan’s funeral will be held on Friday July 4th at 10 a.m. at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive, Victoria.

Heartfelt thanks to the incredible staff at the Waterview Unit at Gorge Road Hospital for their loving care.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of BC.

Joan was a very special lady and I feel honoured to have known her for a long time. Visiting with her at The Gorge was both sad but also good as even at that stage of her condition, she always wanted to help those around her.

Heartfelt condolences John, Deborah and Angela. Joan will be remembered for her warm, sincere and embracing smile that let us know all would be ok. She lead with a confident, joyful spirit whose presence was always a blessing. Forever loving and approachable in so many influential roles as well as, no doubt, indispensable behind the scenes support and servanthood.
“Blessed to be a blessing.” May her continual source of joy remain in your hearts forever.
