It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother at the Royal Jubilee Hospital on September 4, 2022. She will be lovingly remembered by her sons Don (Carol) and Murray, grandchildren Julie (Marc), Shawn, Michael and Craig (Mackenzie), and great-grandchildren Aiden, Keira and Cassie. Joyce adored her great-grandchildren and took great delight in hearing about their activities.

Joyce was predeceased by her husband Frank, her parents Dave and Winifred Donaldson, her sister Betty and her brother Gary.

After graduating from Mt. View High School, Joyce began her working career at B.C. Electric in 1944 at the age of 18. She married her husband Frank in 1947, later joining him to work in the family business. When their boys were young, Joyce and Frank spent their summer holidays in Parksville with Joyce’s extended family. Later, she and Frank spent many happy winters in Arizona, golfing and attending horse races.

Joyce was a member at Uplands Golf Club and enjoyed playing golf and bridge there. She volunteered for over 15 years as an auxiliary member in the Royal Jubilee Hospital gift shop.

Joyce moved to the Wellesley in 2017 and greatly enjoyed the social activities with her friends.

Warm thanks to Mom’s caregivers, Grace and Yoli for their kindness. A special thank you to the caring staff at the Royal Jubilee Hospital.

A Memorial Reception will be held to remember Joyce in the Sequoia Centre, at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive, Victoria, BC, on Friday, September 23, 2022, from 2:00 – 4:00 pm.

Condolences may be offered to the family below.
