We announce with great sadness the passing of Julian Jogesh Singh Manhas. He passed away on May 1, 2022. He was 35 years old.

Julian battled with mental health issues for a long time and fought hard to overcome the struggles that came with it. He was a loud and funny man who loved his books, his tea/coffee and lived to fish!

He is survived by his parents, Sonny and Vennie Manhas, his brother, Darcy Manhas, sister-in-law Mandeep Manhas, niece Meher Manhas, his sister Devina Manhas and brother-in-law Paul Kennelly.

We remember him with great love and fondness and we request you too to honor him by cherishing the good times and remembering the laughs you might have shared with him.

A Funeral Service to honour Julian’s life, was held in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at 10:00am.

Condolences may be left to the family below. You may view the service recording below.

For my dearest and oldest friend Vennie in Victoria (the first to pick up the phone and warmly welcome me when I moved here 17 years ago), and your lovely family. You obviously brought Julian up in the same example of love, compassion and respect for others you’ve always shown me and my kids.

Such a touching service and tribute to a sweet man, 100% dedicated to his family and friends. He could have been nicknamed after his dad Sonny, but spelled Sunny. Our most heart-felt sympathies go out to all of you.

With love and in remembrance of Julian,
    Susan and family

Brings me great sadness to hear the news of such a beautiful man. Julian holds a special place in my heart, he always made me smile when I went to visit Vennie, Sunny and Julian or ran into him in Victoria. He always had this charismatic smile when came to speak to me. Impeccable manners, he was just a delight to be around. He would speak with such confidence and I loved listening to him. Looking at Julian was like looking at The pyramids of Giza, The Amazon rainforest, The Ocean, The Sky on a beautiful day, Japan in Cherry Blossom Season, not even sure if words can express how beautiful Julian truly is. Julian a beautiful person inside and out who made the whole room light up when he walked in the room. He would always make me laugh. A real sweetheart.

My deepest condolences to my dear friend Vennie, such a great mother to her three children, I could see when Julian walked into the room that her eyes would light up. My deepest condolences to Sonny who is such a stand up father and a man, Darcy, and Devina. Such a beautiful family. My deepest condolences to all of Julian’s loved ones.

What a wonderful celebration of Julian! I had a broad smile throughout this service listening to all of the comical stories. I remember Julian as a cheeky little spitfire in Gold River, where many of our hearts will always be. Lots of love to this beautiful family!

    Thanks for the memories Wingman.

I still cherish the memories of the amazing, fun time we shared together in India for Darcy and Mandeep’s wedding. You were always authentic, warm-hearted and an energy-giver. You will never be forgotten. See you on the other side.
