Went home to be with her Lord and Saviour at Victoria General Hospital, Victoria, B.C., with her daughter Tina by her side, on Thursday, September 3, 2020 at the age of 83. Formerly of Burlington, ON,  Kaethe is predeceased by her husband Adolf (2012). Loving mother to Albert (Kelly), Ronald (Melody), Mark, all of Red Lake, ON, and Tina of Victoria, B.C. Cherished Oma of Charlene, Amanda, Teresa, Lucas, Reese, and Katarina. Beloved godmother to Marion Knaus and Michael Ludwig. Kaethe is predeceased by her siblings Irmgard Knaus and Waldemar Ludwig (Marlie).

Kaethe was born to humble circumstances in Germany and came to Canada in 1958 with the hope of something better.  She found this rather quickly in meeting the love of her life in Adolf.  The spark was instant and they were engaged and married in a little over a year.  They spent 47 years in Burlington, ON raising their family and running Adolf’s construction business.  Kaethe thrived as a young mother always busy making meals from scratch, tending and harvesting her garden to make things like jams and jellies, and making her classic streusel cake among other much-loved baking.  It was during this time that Kaethe and Adolf’s faith grew and their goal became living a life that would honour God.  Eventually, they moved to Red Lake, ON where their three boys had settled with their own families.  Kaethe was heartbroken when her husband passed away and with her health slowly declining, it made more sense to move to the big city of Victoria, closer to medical care and daughter Tina. Kaethe formed strong relationships through her church connections and her residence at the Cridge Centre for the Family.  She will be missed greatly by her family and all the had the honour of calling her a friend.

A small memorial service for invited guests to attend in person will be held at Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church (1924 Carrick Street) on September 14 at 1:30 p.m. All are welcome to attend the service virtually at https://www.facebook.com/pg/HopeLutheranChurchVictoria/videos/?ref=page_internal. Interment will be in Ontario alongside her husband – reunited at last.  For those who wish, memorial donations can be made to Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church, , http://www.victoria-lutheran.org/ or The Cridge Centre for the Family, https://cridge.org/donate/ and would be sincerely appreciated by the family.  Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Dear Tina, Albert, Ronald, Mark and extended family
I was sad to hear of Kaethe’s passing but also delighted for her to be where she has longed to be for many years; with her Lord and Saviour; and with Adolf as well no doubt. It’s wonderful to think of them together again free from pain and sorrow! I’m so grateful Kaethe is no longer suffering!

Kaethe was a precious friend and role model and I’m so grateful God brought us together for at least a few years through the Saanich Community Church women’s Bible study group. She was an intent listener and often quiet but whenever Kaethe spoke she had such wisdom to impart and it was always given with love and humility. She was always hospitable too and I have such fond memories of luncheons at the Cridge followed by her Bell Choir concerts. I miss her!

This must be a very painful time for you all. I’m praying for the family that you will find love, peace, comfort, and strength as you grieve the passing of your wonderful mother. God Bless and Keep You!

    Dear Tina & family,

I am so very sorry to hear this news about your mom. May it be fitting to share a little sentiment. Leaving Victoria and all I ever knew, I moved to Ontario in 1999 to start on my professional career. It didn’t take long to find and fall in love with Tina, my good friend’s mom, Kaethe. Instantly, she opened her home and her heart, caring so much that I had somewhere to go on special occasions. I delighted in her cooking of course, and OH her dessert baking was heavenly. Soon i met her sons & all her grand babies (at the time) and for me, the Rogalinski clan felt like home. When she moved to Red Lake to be closer to her boys, I must of loved her deeply b.c. I drove all the way up there to see their new home & all her wonderful family again too.

I have always treasured these times. I still to this day, go walking in Hidden Valley, still a secret little hide-away.

So Kaethe, these are for you XO. I know without doubt that you are surrounded still in glorious love, now with Adolph & your dearest Lord. Im also pretty
sure I will decorate your graves with some beautiful flowers (you love flowers!) when some part of you arrives to rest in Burlington with Adolph. XO

Tina, Steve and I are so glad you were able to have your Mom with you at the Cridge Centre.
We shall always remember her kind nature and especially being fortunate to taste the goodies she was so skilled at creating. She will be missed by all her family but her spirit will live on in the lives of the ones left behind. We join you in your sorrow.

I loved my friend “Kate” who I met when she moved to Victoria. She always had a ready smile and a welcoming presence. Her faith and hope in God and in Jesus radiated from her. I will remember and treasure our many chats when I would see her at The Cridge Centre. She loved her family and was deeply loved by them. She was so grateful that Tina was always there for her. I will miss you, Kate. Mimi
