It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved Keira on March 21, 2021.

She passed in her father’s home surrounded by love and comfort.

She leaves behind her father, Lars Olsen, her mother, Sophia Marcos, her brother, Christian and many aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents.

We know Keira is now with her Farmor, Mette Olsen and her great grandparents, Niels and Aase Olsen and Manuel Moniz.

Keira was a true artist and creative thinker.  She was at peace and truly happiest when creating her art.  She was a beautiful, funny, outgoing girl, yet very introspective, a thinker.

We will always remember her infectious smile that could light up your soul, her piercing blue eyes and her caring, creative personality.

Keira, you are in our hearts forever.

Condolences may be offered to the family below.

My heart is filled with sadness to hear of Keira’s passing. I first met Keira at a CISV Meeting and I remember her bright energy filling up the room. Her smile and laughter was contagious and her heart was full of kindness and I knew the first time I saw her that I wanted to be her friend. Keira had a beautiful energy and soul and whenever I was around her, her kindness and high spirits radiated off of her. I have so many fond memories of her and I laughing at CISV events that I hold dear to my heart. Thank you so much Keira for being a part of my life. I am so grateful that I got to know you.

Keira was such a bright and radiant soul. I met Keira through CISV and we worked together on the youth leadership team. I was so lucky to have known Keira, she was so friendly and outgoing and she made everyone around her feel so included and special. One of my favorite memories with Keira was when we bonded over our love of Disneyland and laughed about our favourite Disney rides. Keira, you’ve had a big impact on my life.

  • Ella

I am so lucky to have known you even for the short time that I did. You made school tolerable. You were so witty and always found a way to make me laugh. You had the oddest yet best sense of humour. Thank you so much, love you longtime

    Sweet Keira,
I cherish all of our time together, the happy laughs through to the tears and hard discussions. You touched everybody’s life and brought happiness to so many, even at your own expense at times. You are so loved and will be greatly missed until we see you again. Watch over your brother and dad, family and friends; they need you now more than ever. Thank you for bringing such joy to my life and letting me into yours. Heaven has their angel back, and we will see her again one day. Until then, Rest In Peace in Paradise. You deserve nothing less.

You my dear, are the brightest shining star. You have left an incredible impact on me, even if we were only just getting to know each other. Seeing you and your dad smile together was like being held by sunshine. Your family love you so much, and I feel privileged to have met you <3

    Dear Keira:
Once upon a time, I had the honour of having you in my Catechism class. It seems light years away now, but in my mind’s eye I can still see you smiling shyly, as we played goofy games and sang even goofier songs. Thank you for being a part of our goofiness. I count myself very lucky to have met you and to have shared in your light and your smile.

It was truly a privilege to be your grade eight teacher and choir teacher. I have so many wonderful memories of you – your bubbly personality, your enthusiasm during our choir rehearsals (after our first performance, you told me, “That actually wasn’t that scary and was actually really fun!”), your kindness and compassion towards your friends and classmates, your excitement at Playland, and your bravery at Wildplay, just to name a few. The letter you wrote me at the end of grade eight still hangs behind my desk. I remember how much you wanted Christian in my class and it is also a privilege to be his teacher. We will take good care of him. Rest In Peace, Keira. You are loved and will be missed by so many.

You were in the class beside the class I taught in when you were in Grade 5. I did not get to know you well, though my path occasionally crossed with your dad’s over my career working with kids. I knew him as a Grade 3 student in the Sneakers and Papers afterschool program at Sidney Elementary, as one of my scouts at 1st Tsartlip, and finally as a parent back at Sidney Elementary. If you picked any amount of creativity from your dad, either from something similar to collecting Trolls, or being an amazing cook as a scout I know you are a truly amazing kid.

Here is a quote from a book I gave your dad for his Birthday when he was in Scouts. If I recall correctly, I gave it to him at Week’s Lake. When I heard about your good-bye I thought about this quote.

    Don’t be dismayed at good-byes.
A farewell is necessary before you can meet again.
And meeting again, after moments or lifetimes is certain for those who are friends.
    – Richard Bach from the book Illusions.

Keira, your time with us was short, but powerful, and my life was impacted by your beautiful personality. I will always fondly remember the fun times we had together from swimming to making gingerbread houses, and everything in between. You are and always will be so loved.
    Love, Anti-Fred.

    Dear Lars and Christian ~
Our world is grieving the loss of your beautiful daughter and sister. Keira had that easy sweet and caring way which was so apparent when she arrived at Sidney School. I loved her creativeness and artistic interests and I’ve treasured a special pencil caricature Keira did of me in the library; me saying “I love books!”. She was kind and empathetic, a trait which did not need to be taught. Keira is a bright and shiny star in our sky, that will never dim. Hearts share in your sorrow. Jeannie Repsch

  • Lise and Maritza

We held you in our arms when you were only 12 hours old. You grew to be a beautiful, sensitive girl – so full of life, so talented, so warm and loving.
How lucky we are to have had you in our family, even if it wasn’t for nearly long enough.
    We miss you so much.
We’ll always hold you in our hearts.

Keira – You know what you meant to me, we talked about it all the time. I know you loved me too and I am so glad the last thing we said to each other was I love you. There are so many things I want to say and messages I want to send to you. You will see them come through in all sorts of ways. I will keep your brother safe. We all love you so much.

    – Dad
