Kenneth passed away on February 1, 2018, just shy of his 95th birthday. Independent until the end he looked after himself in his home with the assistance of his youngest daughter Christine. He was born April 9, 1923 in Wales, eldest son of Stanley and Emily Collins. He survived both his parents and his brother Ron and sister Jean. He was a hard worker his entire life starting at age 14 when he left school to help support his family. In his late teens, he joined his father and brother in the coal mine where he worked underground through the Second World War. Around 1948, he was discharged from the mine and went to live with relatives in Dorset, England where he worked as a field labourer. There he met his future wife Winifrede [Freda] through a blind date and they married in 1950. Their daughter Frances was born 2 years later and Janine followed 2 years after that. Following the call of a new and exciting life in Canada, they emigrated to Edmonton in 1954. Kenneth was never unemployed for more than a couple of months. He quickly found a job as a janitor in Woodwards and then moved on to the occupation he pursued for the rest of his working life – as automotive parts salesman and then as parts manager. Their third daughter Christine was born before the family moved first to Calgary and then finally to Victoria, BC. In Victoria, both he and his wife received the Lord into their lives and were active members of the church. He was thrilled to welcome a granddaughter Sasha, grandson Cody and eventually a great-grandson Brandon. He found great solace in his beliefs when he lost his wife 6 years ago. He has now happily gone to join her and their daughter Jan in heaven.

A Graveside Service for Kenneth Collins will be held on Thursday, February 8th, 2018 at 11 am, in the Royal Oak Burial Park 4673 Falaise Drive, Victoria, BC. V8Y 1B4.
