“Kev” unexpectedly passed away on the morning of November 6th, 2017. Born in Bangor, County Down, Northern Ireland, Kevin moved with his family to Dublin and later emigrated to Victoria, BC, Canada in 1981. He is pre-deceased by his parents, Charles and Shirley Walsh.

In 1999, Kevin met Cheryl. Together they shared the joy of their beautiful daughter, Riley, born September 2001.

Kevin was a fantastic older brother to Cathal and Edward (Sarah). The brothers spent countless weekends competing in “Walsh only” snooker, darts and tennis tournaments. Kevin’s charisma, competitive spirit and natural athletic talents were unmatched.

Kevin will be deeply missed by his loving sisters – Veronica, Geraldine and Carmel (Colm). He is also survived by nephews Martin, Philip, Declan, Arnold and niece, Amy.

Kevin was a kind and gentle soul. He had a great sense of humour, loved sharp wit and could deliver it with ease. Kevin was a true Irishman and loved his family, his birth country and drinks with family and friends.

Suffering a debilitating brain injury in the mid-1990s while employed with Loomis Couriers, Kevin bravely struggled daily with adversity as he fought to regain his life. He was not a quitter and never backed down from a fight. His twenty plus years living with a brain injury (and related struggles) were a testament to his will and spirit.

You are missed by all who knew you, Kevin. We say goodbye to you with words from the anthem of your favourite football team, Liverpool, whom you followed and cheered for with passion.

Condolences may be offered to the family below.

When you walk through a storm, hold your head up high
And don’t be afraid of the dark
At the end of the storm, there’s a golden sky
And the sweet, silver song of a lark

Walk on through the wind
Walk on through the rain
Though your dreams be tossed and blown

Walk on, walk on
With hope in your heart
And you’ll never walk alone
You’ll never walk alone

So sorry for all of you having to let Kevin go on in his journey. Tis hard to move from the loss of his presence to the warm and fond memories of times and laughter shared in his presence. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time.
