CURRY, Laurence (Larry) Edward

Larry, beloved father of Leanne (Gord), Janine, and Vanda (Barry), all of Calgary, Alberta, passed away peacefully at the age of 95 years.  He was the proud Grandfather of Lyndsay (Vince), Courtney (Michael), Kyle (Tricia), Shayna (Leigh), and Devin. Larry was also delighted to be the Great-Grandfather of Bennett, Lincoln, Dawson, and Austin.

Larry was born in Victoria, B.C. and spent his young adult years in Calgary, Alberta where he raised his family. He worked for the Alberta Government and was instrumental in creating the Adult Probation Branch for Southern Alberta.  He later managed that Branch and worked alongside many important Court and Government Officials.  Later in life, Larry retired and moved back to his beloved Victoria, B.C.

Larry was an avid outdoorsman.  He was a man who enjoyed the simple pleasures in life.  All he required was a boat, a quality motor, and a mountain lake filled with trout.  Larry loved his Toyota Camry and called it, “My Baby”.  He enjoyed walking in Beacon Hill Park, soft ice cream cones, cheese and mashed potatoes and gravy.

For the last nine years of his life, Larry called the Oak Bay Kiwanis Pavilion his home.  In his final years, he was surrounded by many loving and supportive people.  Our deepest gratitude and thanks to the caring staff at the Oak Bay Kiwanis Pavilion and to his wonderful doctor, Dr. D. A. Buie.

A private family graveside service will be held.  Tributes, if desired, may be made to the Oak Bay Kiwanis Pavilion.

Dear Leanne: Our condolence to you and your family from the Barrett’s. WE always enjoyed seeing your dad on our visits to the Kiwanis. He was so happy when you came and filled him in all the news from Calgary. It was a pleasure to get to know you on your many visits. If you have the time whenever you are in Victoria in the future – please give me a call – 250-383-9660. I would love to see you. In the meantime I hope Dave and Larry catch the “big one” on their journey.

    Shirley, Joe, Dan and Jane
