Linda was born to the late Emera and Alexina Renshaw in Prince George, B.C. on June 21, 1944. She grew up in the village of McBride, B.C. and fondly remembered hiking the nearby hills, fishing in the creeks, and taking bike rides to nearby lakes with her childhood friends.
Linda was the loving matriarch and guiding light of her family; she is survived by her husband Peter, and by her three children (Cara, Lisa and Mark), their spouses (Scott, Jeff and Dana) and by numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Linda and Peter raised their family in various locales in B.C. primarily residing in Prince George then later establishing their home in Mill Bay, which became a regular gathering place for the family. Linda was predeceased by her three older siblings Bob, Betty and Frank, with whom we are certain she is now enjoying lively conversations and poker games.
Linda graduated from the University of British Columbia in 1965 and later earned the Chartered Accountant designation in 1981, after articling with Peat Marwick Mitchell. A respected and admired finance professional, Linda was the Bursar and Operations Manager at Shawnigan Lake School for over twenty years, and in retirement continued to advise both Glen Lyon Norfolk School and Queen Margaret’s School, all of which benefited from her professional guidance.
Countless friends were also the beneficiaries of Linda’s wit and wisdom, several of them notably at her side during her final days.
A prolific gardener and ardent ailurophile, nary a plant nor cat (or other animal for that matter) came Linda’s way that wasn’t the better for it. To know her was to love her, and to be loved by her.
Linda’s family, friends, pets, and colleagues will dearly miss her. We console ourselves knowing that a light like hers cannot stay in one place for long and that she is on a great new journey. We miss you and love you Mom.
