Peacefully, in her 99th year, Lily passed away in her sleep on the morning of October 13th, 2021 in the care of the wonderful staff at Glengarry Hospital. Pre-deceased by her husband Albert in 2012, Louise is survived by her children Kevin (Karen), Lisa and Jennifer, Christopher (Delores), and grandson Justin.

A life-long travel and music lover, Louise was a lifetime member of the Victoria Choral Society, an opera buff, a lover of classical music and a former solo vocalist during the dark days of WW2, devoting her time to entertaining troops encamped at bases from Alaska to Washington State, and appeared on a number of Pacific Northwest stages after the war.  When she married Albert in 1952, she retired from her musical career as well as her time in the BC Government (Ministry of Health, where she was private secretary to the Deputy Minister) to raise her family as a full-time mother and home-maker. In the 1960s, she returned to her passion of singing as a hobby, one which continued for most of the next thirty years.

No service is planned at this time. An announcement may be made at a future date about a gathering to honor Louise.  Flowers gratefully declined. In lieu, please consider a donation in her name to the Children’s Health Foundation of Vancouver Island or Janeece Place.

Condolences may be offered to the family below.

I got to know both your parents in the late 80s and through the 90s via their involvement in the Hallmark Heritage Society.
Your house on the slope near Claremont was always fun to visit (loved your Mom’s big old electric range!) and if there was a potluck, Louise was always there with something yummy.
Her enthusiasm was contagious and she was always very “present” in any conversation. No funny business got past her either – those eyes were very sharp.
To find out that your Mom was a band singer in the 40s was a surprise, but then, that was Louise, wasn’t it? Always involved, always giving, and always enjoying life.
She was a treat to know. I’m glad our paths crossed.
