It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Michael Steven Goodfellow on Friday September 16th, 2022, after a valiant battle with ALS.

Michael was an amazing dad and proud father.  His three children, David, Graham, and Lorelei were the loves of his life, and he was happiest spending time with them and supported them in everything they did.   Michael is also lovingly remembered by his father, Jim, his sister, Susan (Steve), his nieces Amy (Tasos) and Melanie, his close friends Neil, Kajsa and Cindy, Heather, Al and David P.

As a strong believer in his faith, we find comfort that Michael has reunited with his mother Fay.

Michael was an avid outdoorsman that thrived spending time deep in the forest camping, hiking and exploring.  He had a great laugh, was an amazing cook and always had time for people.  We all fondly remember his all-encompassing bear hugs.

In keeping with Michael’s loving and generous spirit, he made the decision to donate his organs.  The knowledge that others were getting a second chance at life before he passed brought him a great level of peace.

We would also like to thank the amazing and kind staff in the palliative care ward at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria for their care and compassion.

Let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth. (1 John 3:18)

Thinking of the family today. We are so sorry for your loss. Michael will live on through his amazing children, who we have had the great pleasure of knowing over the last many years. Hold each other close and know how much you are loved.

I feel honoured to have had the opportunity to get to know Michael- to laugh and to jest with, to ponder the world and to appreciated peach candies with. His influence and tenderness live on.
My thoughts and warmth go out to your loving family.

I worked with Michael at LCLB where he would regularly regale us with tales of his travels and adventures but mostly about his children. I will miss his charm, wit and intelligence but mostly I will miss his caring. To his family, young and old, my sincerest condolences.

Thinking of you all at this difficult time

Please accept my sympathies for your loss. I have a lasting memory of Michael as a very young boy, full of life, energy and curiosity as he roared around the living room at Grandma’s apartment as Jim, Fay and infant Susan looked on. He seemed inordinately fixated on the snacks, especially the Bugles, but that is typical of a toddler. From this tribute I see he retained that energy and spirit throughout his life. How wonderful for those closest to him! I hope you can carry good memories of a good man throughout your lives and it gives you comfort knowing that you knew who he was and you and he loved each other.

My love and deepest condolences to the family and dear friends. Michael was a brilliant and talented man whom I will deeply miss, yet never forget. It is comforting to know he has joined his mom and that he will live in eternal peace free from pain.

Big hugs and love sent to All. Xox ❤️

I am so glad that Michael’s “all-encompassing bear hugs” made it into his obituary. I have many fond memories of him, but the bear hugs will always be my fondest memories of Michael! My thoughts are with you, his family, at this time, and if there is anything at all that I can do, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me.
