In loving memory of Myra Whitham born August 9, 1930 in Leeds, UK into a family of 2 sisters (Ina and Madge) and 2 brothers (Stanley and Len). She passed away peacefully on May 14, 2020.
She started work at Kirkstall Forge in Leeds, then moved to Canada in the early 1950’s. There she worked at Canadian Johns Manville in Quebec, initially as a typist, then progressed through data processing, until upon her departure, she was running the department.
Myra, on her retirement in 1985, moved to Victoria to live with her sister, Madge Cassin. During their time together they traveled, went on many cruises and drove around BC and Alberta. Myra had also traveled through Europe while in the UK. Myra enjoyed and appreciated the many chats with her neighbours on Glenora.
Myra will be remembered for her kindness, assisting and caring for others, especially Madge, her colourful characteristic ways and shear determination to remain independent.
Myra is survived by her nieces Pat Cassin (Henry) and Jude Cassin-Day (John) and their children Sara (Brett) Stray and Shaun (Lee) Day and their families in Broadford, Australia, as well as many family members in the UK and Australia.
A special thanks to all the caring staff at St Charles Manor, where Myra last resided. A Celebration of Myra’s life will be planned in the future.

Verity Richardson Myra was very special .She made everyone feel important . Mandy Conrad Myra had such a sweet nature and showed her love for her church family. She was a devoted choir member who loved music and also enjoyed serving in the church kitchen or wherever she could lend a helping hand. We will miss her presence…may she rest in peace and rise in glory.

Brian Richardson Myra was one of the dearest and sweetest ladies I ever knew. She became a friend as soon as I took up the position of director of music at St. Peter`s church, Lakehill, Victoria.She was always warm, generous, ready to help whenever I asked her. She gave me all sorts of Yorkshire-themed magazines, old hymn books and music. She brought windfall apples for years, for my granddaughter`s horses. I will always count Myra as one of the people who have truly enriched my life.

Karen McIvor I knew Myra at St. Peter’s church and as a neighbour near Playfair Park. She was a dear, kind woman. I am glad there will be a service for her friends to remember her. She would have been glad to slip away when the wildflowers were at their peak. My sympathy to her family.
As a young lad growing up in Kirkstall, Myra lived on the same street. Moving to Quebec province, Canada, I lost track of her. Myra turned up in Asbestos where my father worked for Canadian Johns Manville. Later, she moved to Victoria where my wife and I visited her. We’re very sorry to hear of her passing.
