Pamela June Taylor (nee Tanner) died peacefully on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, BC. She was born on June 11, 1930 in Shirley, England. Pam was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Keith, in 2010. She is survived by her children, Kate Porter, Pam (Alan) Guilbault, Kim (Rick) Connolly, and Judy (Martin) Young; grandchildren Amy Hogg; David and Elizabeth Guilbault; Stephanie Schweitzman and Sarah Connolly; Keith and Kelly Young; great-grandchildren, Jeremy, Orion, Madeline and Ryley Hogg.

Pam’s early life, with her cousin Mavis at her side, was filled with fun adventures in the countryside of England. As a teen, Pam moved with her family to Canada and eventually to Victoria. Pam won the position of secretary to the Lieutenant Governor of BC where her skills and intellect were greatly appreciated. A fortuitous interest in tennis resulted in meeting Keith Taylor and marriage with 4 daughters soon occupied Pam’s time. As the girls entered school, Pam returned to work, this time as secretary to the manager of the brand new Sears. Life was filled with work, family and many happy times at the Racquet Club of Victoria and at Uplands Golf Course. Travel was always of interest and when Pam and Keith retired, they spent many happy times travelling Canada, the United States and Europe. Golf, tennis, and bridge were passions that Pam enjoyed through-out her retirement years and she maintained her bridge groups until the final month of her life.

The most important part of Pam’s life was her family. She was always keen to hear the news of her daughters and her grandchildren. Large family dinners were near monthly occurrences due to the many birthdays and special holidays, where great laughter, sharing stories and playing of games always followed a delicious home-cooked meal. Pam was a competitor; she never hesitated to brag about winning in a card game where she was partnered with a grandchild. Pam’s last year was spent at Carlton House where she enjoyed the activities and fine dining. Frequent visits from her daughters and grandchildren filled her final days with joy.

The family would like to thank Dr. Morgan and the doctors and nurses of Royal Jubilee Hospital who cared for Pam with such thoughtfulness and sensitivity.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Victoria Humane Society.

A Celebration of Pam’s Life will be held on Tuesday, November 13th, 2018 from 1-3 pm at Uplands Golf Course.
