Grandma Angela, today marks 4 years since you ascended to a higher place. It wouldn’t feel right to say you’ve left us because your presence and guidance is as strong as ever. I sit here this evening with Asia, recalling the countless ways you’ve influenced us in becoming the resilient adults we see today. We can only hope the plate we’ve fixed for you is as soul-enriching as your cooking was for us.

The growth I’ve made as a person these past four years is due in large part to utilizing the wisdom you imparted on me growing up. I am forever grateful that you trusted such young ears with subtle gifts of gold that is often lost on most adults let alone a child. You recognized a certain hunger for something deeper I can’t quite put words to, and nourished a sprouting force into something that is sometimes beyond my comprehension. The fleeting hints of your perfume every now and then serves as validation in my endeavours. Each month I find myself discovering more of the creative ways you reach out to me. When I fear I’m alone, the trace of your bangled hand can be felt rubbing my back the same way it did when we’d ride the VIA rail through the country.

I think of you always and love you forever.

  • Lauren Asia Sylvan

Grandma, it has been nearly four years since you crossed over. Life has not been the same without you. You were one of the brightest lights of my life, and I can’t help but feel regrets that I wasn’t there with you when you left us. I miss you so much. I’m so sorry I didn’t call you more when you were sick, I hope you can feel how much I regret that, and how much I love and miss you, from wherever you are now. I think of you every day, and wish I could have told you how much I love you in person one last time. But I will continue to do so now, because I know you are not truly gone, and that you can hear me. Thank you for being my guiding light even to this day, and for protecting and watching over me as I grow up. I’ll be graduating from college this year. I wish you could be there physically to see me walk across the stage, but I know you are always with me in spirit and will be there on that day. I promise to pray to you & speak to you more often so you know you are not forgotten. I love you.

  • Traceii Roberts

My sincere condolences to you Pam and to your siblings, family and to all whom loved this most amazing and passionate woman of God.

Your memory remains a great light to all those whom crossed your path, of the incredibly rich testimony of Jesus Christ, that He was sinless and willingly died on our behalf; and that for those whom receive the truth, are reconciled and justified before the Father, and receive abundant grace and will reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

I am so thankful and blessed to have known you dear Angela, even though a short few years. It was ordained from above and I will never forget the mark you impressed upon me.

Thank you for your love, your prayers and phone calls. Thank you for being a woman of integrity who stood your ground, for knowing who you were, Whose you were and for walking in it regardless of the times and changing world view.

I so look forward to seeing you again, praying with and worshipping God with you again. There is not enough space here to write of all the goodness you gave in your time here. However, I want your family to know that I honour you, I respect you and that I love you. You will be so dearly missed and never forgotten. So many little things will bring your memory to mind. Thank you for continuing to bless me and give in these ways even though you are journeying in the perfect place of Love now. I’m so glad that you have now entered into the sweetest place that you have always treasured. Praise Jesus!! I so miss and love you!!

Ambassador Zelma Bowen, Toronto, Ontario, October 11, 2019

To Pamela, Terry and Edward, we call her “Mother” but Your Mother Angela was so proud of you and all your accomplishments. Her works and her legacy will continue to live on in you and generations to come. To the rest of the family, my sincere condolences. We don’t say goodbye, her very last words to me were “I will call you tomorrow”. Thank God for the calling as the leaves are falling at this time of Thanksgiving.
Here is a call for the endurance of the Saints who keep the Commandments of God and the Faith of Jesus. And I heard a voice from Heaven telling me to write, “Blessed are the dead—those who die in the Lord from this moment on.” “Yes,” says the Spirit, “they will rest from their labors, for their deeds will follow them.” And I looked and saw a white cloud, and seated on the cloud was One like the Son of Man, with a Golden Crown on His head and a sharp sickle in His hand.…(Revelation 14:12-14).
Wear your Golden Crown well, you are a Wonderful Soul with a Beautiful spirit. You have revealed Christ in the earth and we will continue your legacy by fulfilling your last request.
In Honor of and in Loving Memory of Pastor Angela May Sylvan and all that she has done on earth, we will be providing 10 less fortunate families with a complete Thanksgiving Dinner here in Toronto this weekend. I know all is well with her soul.

The initial shock is over.My sister, pastor Angela May Sylvan, Teacher, mother, Minister, aunt, Grandmother, sister-in-law and God mother to my youngest child has left us.I heard that it is for a better place. Heartfelt condolences to her three children, grand children, siblings and other immediate family.Rest assured, you love her, but God loves her more. Hold on to the precious memories she left with you. Hope they will be comforting. A true soldier, one who devoted many many years to the service of the lord, through ministry and counselling.
