Patricia died peacefully on January 27, 2020 in Victoria, BC. She was born on September 20, 1950 in Prince Rupert.
Pat is survived by her son Keith (Caroline); grandchildren Logan and Jaxon; and her brother Jim (Leah), and nephew Jason (Patsy) and niece Talena (Greg).
She made many friends that would last her lifetime and enriched the lives of all that she met. She will be greatly missed by her family.
Pat decided early in life that she wished to help people and dedicated her career to becoming a Registered Nurse. She worked early in her career at the Royal Jubilee Hospital for a number of years. When Keith was in elementary school, she decided to take some time off work and go back to school. Upon re-entering the workforce, she found a job that would last her the rest of her career at Beckley Farm Lodge. Pat touched the lives of many residents at Beckley, as well as many of her co-workers.
Even after she retired from the workforce, her desire to help people was such that she found an opportunity to do so by volunteering at a local thrift shop where she made many friends within the community.
Pat had a great many interests during her life. One love that she always had was her love of reading, which she passed on to her son Keith. She always said, when she saw Keith reading and enjoying his first few novels, she knew he would succeed in school.
Pat also always had a love of animals, especially cats! Through most of her life, she shared a great amount of love that she had with many fortunate felines. In her final years, she also managed to share this love with her grandson’s dog, Jaggy.
She also developed a love of travel. She travelled to many locations around the world (a notable favourite being Costa Rica and the Galapagos Islands) and experienced many different cultures. She loved the “cruise” experience. Whether it was cold weather cruising up to Alaska, or cruising in warmer climates, she truly enjoyed sharing these times and experiences with her family and friends.
No memorial service will be held at this time. A private dinner for family will be held at a later date.
The family wish to thank the doctors and nurses who cared for Pat over the last few years as they all showed love and compassion that was appreciated greatly by her family.
In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that donations be made to the Victoria SPCA to support the animals that she loved so much.

Linda Boon My sincere condolence for the loss of a caring & warm woman. Pat was my room mate in Begbie Hall until we both married & moved out of the nurses’ residence. we lived side by side in the McKenzie Street rooming house until we both graduated. Later, we were pregnant at the same time, my son born first and Keith born a couple of months later. We shared our stories and thoughts of pregnancy & newborns.
We lost touch when I moved away. The next time I saw Pat was at Beckley Farm Lodge, where I was giving a workshop, soon after I returned to Victoria. She was still the warm, caring woman I will always remember.

Kay Kerr I worked with Pat at Beckley Farm Lodge for 12 years. We were RN’s sharing the dayshift together. I admired Pat’s nursing skill and also her people skills. She was so compassionate in all her dealings with our mostly elderly population. She was like the “calm in the storm” at Beckley when things would come off the rails. A great pillar of support for all who lived and worked there. And this was despite some serious health issues…she soldiered on no matter how uncomfortable or stressed she might be because of those issues. Her sense of humour always shone through as well…making us stop taking ourselves too seriously. Pat loved her cat and often had funny and entertaining cat stories to tell during our breaks. She was such a family person as well and frequently made reference to her love and care for them. Pat made such a favourable impression on me that I will carry her memory with me always. Thank you for being in my life and I know you will be in a beautiful place.

Leslie Whitmore Pat was such a special person. She was at so many at the special events in my life, including my 50th birthday cruise and at my sister and mom’s weddings. My life is so much better for having you in it. My entire family loved you and misses you.

Brian Sober I loved Pat. She was one of those people who loved it when you made them laugh and she was quick to pick up on people’s humourous attempts even when they fell flat. She always smiled and appreciated the effort. I worked with Pat for 22 years and loved every encounter I had with her. She lived with her cat in our basement suite when her house was being built. It was a pleasure to host her and Napoleon. I last saw Pat two
Christmases ago when we met up at Sally and Beth’s place for dinner. I was so happy to see her and spend some time talking with her. I miss you Pat.

Lara Hudock I will cherish so many memories of Pat. I had the pleasure of working with her for over 20 years. I learned so many valuable lessons from her and looked up to her for she demonstrated such a caring, compassionate and kind nature to everyone. I will keep all the wonderful memories close to my heart and when I think of her a smile will always come to my face.

I am sorry to read about the passing of Pat. I was a classmate of hers in nurses’ training, but hadn’t seen her in a while. She was a very quiet, kind, and gentle person.
