Patricia Lorraine Corbett (née Heaney) died peacefully December 14, 2022, in Sidney, BC.  She was born April 11, 1939, in Stone, Staffordshire, England.

Patricia was predeceased by Joe, her beloved husband of 41 years in 2000, and by her daughter, Cheryl Rebecca, in 1978. She is survived by two sisters, Lorraine (John) and Glenda (Rick) and two brothers, Paul (Mary) and Bob (Judy), many nieces and nephews, and a half-brother, Martyn Heaney.

Patricia immigrated to Canada from England with her mother Ruby, her stepfather Cyril, and two half-brothers, aboard the Empress of France, when she was 12 years old.

They settled in Simcoe County on Georgian Bay, in Ontario.

Following a severe case of tuberculosis as a teenager, Patricia began working at Cyril’s clothing factory, Larkin & Sons, in Port McNicoll.

In 1959, Patricia married the love of her life, Joe Corbett, a young local farmer. Two years later, their daughter Cheryl was born. Patricia and Joe ran a horse-riding stable – a source of much joy for the family. They later had a cattle farm in Wyebridge, Ontario.

Patricia and her family relocated to British Columbia in 1974 first to Creston, then eventually settling in Prince George.

Patricia had many animals she adored, most notably a pony named Little Joe that Patricia would drive around in the backseat of her car.

Nieces and nephews have fond memories of visiting “Auntie Pat and Uncle Joe.”

In 1992, Patricia and Joe retired to Lake Cowichan, where they were joined by Ruby and Cyril, as neighbours. Following Joe’s death, Patricia settled in Sidney, near to her mother Ruby, who she visited often and cared for.

The family wishes to thank Michelle, Glenda, Paul and Mary, and Lorraine for their active roles in caring for Patricia in her last years, as well as the staff at Sidney All Care.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the BCSPCA.

Sadly, I never got to meet Pat as she had already emigrated to Canada before I was born.
I always remember the beautiful photograph of her with baby Cheryl at my grandparents home and I would think of her often over the years.
It’s so nice to read how kind and loved she was.
My heartfelt condolences to all her family and friends xx

My sincere condolences to Pat’s family. She was a beautiful lady I have many fond memories of the riding stable. They were so kind to kids like me who wanted to hang around the horses but didn’t always have money to pay. She will be at peace with Joe and Cheryl.

Sorry to hear this terribly sad news. Pat was my aunt and I feel so sad that I never got to meet her, although it is lovely that my father (her half-brother) got to come over to Canada to finally meet her before his own death 2 years ago. She sounded like such a lovely, kind lady. Sending condolences to all her family in Canada at this very sad time. Your family in England are thinking of you all.
With love, Joanne Furnival (nee Heaney) Xxx

On behalf of the Moriarty family, we would like to extend our sincerest condolences to the family. We have beautiful memories with Joe, Pat and Cheryl. Obviously, Cheryl got her love for animals from her mother. Pat is now at peace as she is once again with her beloved Joe and Cheryl.

Our condolence’s to the Family on the passing of Pat. We were sorry to get the word. We had many great times with them, between their place and ours, and did a lot of horse back riding up at their place.
We went out West & visited them out there. Our daughter Marilyn went out west & stayed with them, and her & Cheryl had a great time.
We were so sorry to hear about Pat’s passing, but she is with her family now. Our blessings to the Family.

Condolences to all members of the family. Unfortunately, I never got the chance to meet my half-sister Patricia; she was 16yrs old by the time I was born and had already been settled in Canada for four years.
