Paula passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 2nd, 2019 at the age of 95.  Born on March 1st, 1923 in Waugh, Alberta to parents John and Katryna Dowhaniuk, Paula was the second youngest of eight siblings.  In her teens, Paula met a handsome young man, Bill Agnew.  They were soon married and started farming at Shoal Creek, Alberta where they had a son (John) and daughter (Afton).

Moving to Edmonton in the 1950’s, Paula focused on raising their family, caring for her home and garden, making fabulous meals and entertaining family and friends.  After Bill’s retirement, they moved to Kelowna for 20 years and finally to Vancouver Island.  Throughout the years, Paula was passionate about her love of cooking, fishing, camping, gardening and dedication to her spouse Bill of 67 years. Prior to her passing, Paula lived at Shannon Oaks in Victoria enjoying independent living until her health deteriorated.

Paula loved following current events on tv and the newspaper, playing word games and following the Toronto Blue Jay’s.  She will be remembered as a beautiful, charming, fun person tempered with feistiness and determination.

Predeceased by Bill in 2011, fond memories of Paula will be cherished by her daughter Afton Wright (Barry) and son John Agnew, grandchildren Cameron Agnew and Samuel Wright, great-grandchildren Alena and Madeline Agnew, brother Bill Dowhaniuk (Polly), and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Your memories will last with us forever.

There will be no service as per her request.

In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
