We are sad to announce the death of Pearl, even as we are deeply grateful for her life. She died gracefully, as is her style, at Luther Court, Victoria, BC. Pearl is predeceased by her husband, Walter, and son, Ron. She was the middle child of nine, born on a farm near Carstairs Alberta.

In her life, she worked as a secretary and preschool teacher; raising four children, Ron, Dave, Jan and Brian. She and Walter made sure to make music, dance and play cards together, she loved poetry, copying and memorizing her favorites. Most of all she loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. We will miss her.

We will Celebrate her Life at the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens 4665 Falaise Drive on Friday, August 16, 2019 at 1:00 pm.

Condolences may be offered to the family below.

  • Alex Gedo

My deepest sympathies to Pearl’s family and friends. My mother, Elizabeth Gedo (who died May 30, 2020, at the tender age of three months shy of 104)and Pearl were pen pals from 1994-1996 (last letter that I have found of Pearl’s. Mom raved about Pearl and was so delighted to receive letters from her.) I wish the two of them could have met in person. They were very much alike in their personality and character. I would like to think that the two of them finally met in Heaven and no longer need to write to each other.

I have loving memories of the time Ray & I stayed with Pearl & Walter in 2001. Pearl always loved to dance & as a young boy on the farm Ray called his big sister “Twirlley Pearly” My condolences to Dave, Jan, Brian & their Families.
    Love from B.J.

  • Carol Douglas (Richelhof)

I will always have very fond memories of Aunty Pearl. We called her our “flying”
Aunt. She was the only person we knew who flew on a plane, arriving in Calgary
on a small aircraft for her visits to Alberta. She brought us bags of walnuts
and lovely handmade gifts like the stuffed frog I still have. I took up her
interest in genealogy and she was always helpful with it. We exchanged letters
continually for decades. I so looked forward to her loving stories about Walter
and my cousins and her seasonal descriptions of the flowers and trees in Victoria.
Then there was her poetry, cheerful and with a pure love of nature, I have every poem
she ever shared with me. She was a lovely soul and I will miss her. My heartfelt condolences.

  • Donna Wood

Deepest sympathies in your time of loss Dave, Jan, Brian and families.
She will be fondly remembered for her philosophical nature and will be sadly missed by her sister Shirley. Her phone calls were the highlight of Mom’s week.

  • Kath Stewart

sympathies to the familiy from NZ.

I remember meeting her as a young child a few times and I remember her being a kind and patient lady. I also thought it was a shame we all lived so far away so it was difficult for us all to get to know each other well.
From the children of the late Ray Stewart, Robert, Lynn and Kath
