Bob passed peacefully into the presence of his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ after lengthy declining health.  He was a much-loved husband and father, survived by his devoted wife of nearly 62 years, Hilda, his children Greg and Kerri (Ross) Brain.

Born in St. Boniface MB, he grew up in many towns and settled in Victoria as a teenager.  He was proficient at playing and teaching the piano accordion. He was well known in the automotive field and later had a household painting business.  Bob loved younger people and often reminisced of many happy times.

Many thanks to Dr. Yip, VIHA nurses and caregivers and RJH staff for their compassionate care to Bob over the last years.

A Private Graveside Service to be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to  Camp Qwanoes, Crofton, BC – www.qwanoes.ca/  or Central Baptist Church, Victoria, BC – www.centralbaptistchurch.ca/

Hi dad, we miss you so much!

  • Al Wiebe

Was missing the Sunday before service group in Fellowship Hall where Bob, Harry Dosso, Neal Dixon, George Hammond, Norrie Spencer, Byron Heal and I met and had a nice visit before Covid hit. Then the church closed for the pandemic. I saw Bob and Hilda at Esquimalt Lagoon briefly during the pandemic and Bob mentioned that they had seen Dan and Barb Willock at the beach. Little did any of us know that Bob and Dan would leave for better quarters with the Lord in a few weeks time.

I’m so thankful that we could share in the memories of Bob through this special service on line. Although we have only known each other over the past 5 years, we cherish the memory of getting to know you through Kerr and of her inviting us to Central Baptist. It will be a glorious time in Heaven as Bob is likely praising God now with his accordion. Special blessings to you, his family.

Dear Hilda, Greg, Kerri and Ross:
May God’s loving arms surround you and give you comfort and peace as you mourn the loss of your dear husband and father.
What a privilege to have known this wonderful man who walked through life trusting in his Lord and Saviour, and to witness his love for Hilda, Greg, Kerri and Ross. We were so blessed to share God’s word together in his Bible Study group, and enjoyed our visits together listening to his life’s stories always told with a smile and a “twinkle in his eye”.
We were so honoured to call him our friend. We will miss him.

Sorry to hear of Bob’s passing. He taught me accordion lessons many years ago (would you believe in the mid 1950’s) and I was friends with him and his family for many years. It was always fun to get together with Bob. He had a great sense of humour. I often wondered if he kept his vintage Volkswagen and the old Desoto Sportsman. I was thinking of that on Saturday while I was delivering papers. Then when I got home and started to read the paper, I saw his obituary. It felt very strange as I had not seen Bob for over 50 years. Sleep peacefully, Bob. I appreciated your friendship very much.
