Ruth Lyon Lloyd (nee Anthony) passed away peacefully at her home in Victoria, BC on December 21, 2017 at the age of 88. She was born in Toronto, ON on May 17, 1929. She is survived by her children, Anne and Rick. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

Ruth returned to school once her children were in high school where she achieved her ambition of becoming a Registered Nurse. She specialized in gerontology upon graduation and later worked in palliative care. Upon retirement, Ruth enjoyed volunteering at the Royal British Columbia Museum as a docent, and at the James Bay Community Project, (specifically in the Project library on Michigan Street). She was a past president of the New Horizon Society in James Bay, and particularly enjoyed many afternoons playing bridge.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Jennifer Green and Jessica for their compassion and care.

    Dear Anne and Rick,

My sincere and deepest condolences to you, I am deeply saddened by your loss of your Mom. I had the great pleasure of knowing your Mom as one of her caregivers. I so enjoyed visiting and helping your Mom, we had so much fun together, great chats and lots of laughs. So many fond memories which I will hold near and dear to my heart. Ruth’s life and all she accomplished have and will always inspire me to be my best. Truly a wonderful person. May she rest in peace. My friend Ruth, I will truly miss you and always remember you.

    Love Debbie

I knew Ruth through the dinners at James Bay School, and through New Horizons, so when I had the pleasure of delivering Ruth’s library books the past few years, we always had a quick chat and a laugh. She was such an avid reader with a great sense of humor, and a delight to have known. My sincere condolences to you both.
