David Scott Douglas Shoemaker, age 49 years, passed away on April 3rd, 2022, at the Victoria General Hospital, in the Intensive Care Unit, with his family at his side.  Scott was predeceased by his Dad, Dave, in December, 2021, and is survived by his mother, Elaine, and his sister, Lauren.

Scott loved all animals, especially his cat Bobby, and other rescued pets, giving each a forever home. Scott was skilled, always able to fix anything at any time.  Scott also had an outrageous sense of humour which knew no bounds.

We will miss Scott every day. The silence is deafening, but he lives loudly in our hearts forever.

A private family viewing was followed by cremation.

Condolences may be offered to the family below.

    I don’t know
    What happened I’m
    So sorry
I wish somebody can tell me why he was taken away from
    Us so soon..
I was the captain of our soccer team for ten years
We were just kids but we were a team and we all worked together pretty good in my opinion
Scott was a major part of that team..
We grew apart as we got older
I’m sad to hear of his passing
We had fun and he was part of the crew that had the Vancouver Whitecaps play a exhibition game at centennial stadium..
    Our team
    Landsdowne Optimus
We were the ball boys for the game !!
    It was amazing..
I have much love for that time
    And I hope
    This helps a little bit
Cause Scott was part of something
    Special .

Scott, you had the most amazing sense of humour. I often quote you (all super inappropriate…. Well that’s why they stuck:) Although it’s been years definitely left a lasting impression in my heart. Cheers to you.

    Elaine,

I am so sad to hear that Scott passed away at such a young age. Scott and Rob were good friends and had such fun playing together in the neighbourhood when they were little.

  • Jason Gregg

Growing up in Gordon Head, Scott was my neighbour across the street and we were best friends for many of our young years. Scott, Robbie, Jeff, Aaron, Justin, Clint, the Pollards and Blaze, a mix of us always played road hockey at the bottom of our street unless it was baseball season then we would play baseball in Scott’s backyard which backed on to the Smith’s so we had two huge yards to play. It was pretty serious ball and you could hit that tennis ball as far as you could. We played until it was so dark you couldn’t see that ball and often even later. Those were the best times. Scott was always good to me, he was a year older and Mr. and Mrs. Shoemaker always made sure Scott had awesome toys. Scott had the best Star Wars collection, an 8 ball table downstairs and the game station Activision. We had some amazing times. Lots of laughs, a bit of trouble here and there and even a few fistfights, we both learned how to throw a good punch but would be friends soon after. Scott took me to Kindergarten to show me around a year before I was supposed to go. Made sure I was taken care of. I loved eating at Scotts house, Mrs. Shoemaker made the best popsicles I have ever eaten, I believe she made them with grape jello and grape koolaid mixed together and then frozen. Absolutely Amazing. Scott and I grew apart around 12 years old or so but whenever I bumped into him in the neighbourhood, we always had a good chat and a laugh. Scott always looked out for my mom and family as they were still neighbours and that means the world to me. Scott was certainly an original. Lots and lots of love and condolences to Lauren and Elaine Shoemaker, I smile when I think of Scott, I won’t forget our good times. X
