An amazing and genuine man passed away peacefully after a courageous battle against an intense illness. He lived life to the fullest in each decade of his life’s journey and leaves behind an extensive family and vast circle of friends to adjust to life without this man as father, grandfather, husband, brother, and horse’n around cowboy.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Sooke Harbour House Hotel, 1528 Whiffen Spit Road, Sooke, on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 1:00pm.

My dear Adrianne, I just heard about the world’s loss on George leaving us.. I’ve tried to locate you both over the years but could never find you. Lenny just told me last week. I would love to be able to come and see you. I heard my Shadow had lots of babies and how beautiful she is. George was the best thing to happen to Shadow. I don’t know if you will see this but I’m really hoping you do. I’ve missed you both and now even more I’d love to just sit and remenise about all of our adventures.

You know I suppose I knew George good as almost anyone , He was someone not to be taken lightly , I remember many rides and buggy trips .
Sure he did things his own way, oh he had a good woman or two , but that was his way , oh he liked his drinks and good company .
He was something special no doubt of that he will never rest , Goodbye George , my old friend .

  • Robert Turner

One of the good guys. Met George at the legion. He rode his horse up and was enjoying a caesar. He was holding court and telling stories like the raconteur he was.
    He is missed.

I am so sorry to hear that George has passed away. When I heard the news, I just couldn’t believe what I was hearing. You are a very special person Adrianne and I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to work at BCBC and WSI with you and hear all the amazing and funny stories you had about George. I knew from the stories that you both had a special spot in each other’s heart.

You will find the strength to get through this, just one day at a time. Remember all the good times you had together as they are yours to keep forever.

Adrienne, the first thing I thought when I learned of George’s passing was – he lived a damn full life. He was wise and knowing but also mischievous and ornery and kind and spiritual. One of a kind. He was the first man who believed in me and I’m grateful for my time with him. Sending you lots of love and peaceful healing energy Adrienne

George taught me so many things that nobody else could. Amongst them that fences were for jumping and to LIVE life to the fullest. Ride hard and free Brother. You are greatly missed.

Part of Me and the Eagle By Steve Earle

I’ve traveled around I’ve seen city lights
But nothin’ that shined like a big sky at night

Some mornings will find me up above the timberline
Lonesome don’t seem like much once you’re this high
When it’s all said and done I usually find
Me and the eagle are of the same mind

In my dreams there’s a horse,
    He stands eighteen hands high
He’s as white as the snow and there’s fire in his eyes
And he’ll bare only me though others have tried

And together we’ll travel up across the divide

I did not have the opportunity to get to know George very well. But I have had the privilege of getting to know one of his horses. “I is a Colleen” is a living testiment to George’s gift with horses, training and caring for them. I feel honored and humbled to continue on where he left off with Isa.

Although I only knew George for a short while, he was a great horseman and I enjoyed our weekly rides. He had lots of stories to tell and was my introduction to Sooke. My heartfelt condolences to Adrianne and family. He was a true gentleman and the only cowboy I’ve ever meet. Happy trails George

George did So much for us when we moved here with our horses. Then he took over Patrick and Scout for us and gave them a great home.

I would not have trusted anyone else with Patrick.

Thank you Adrianne for looking after him… George that is, so that he could look after Patrick for so long.

It is an honour to have known George. He was one of a kind and a good man. It is with great sadness that he has left us, but I know he will be riding free now without pain and for that I take comfort.

I am sorry Ade for your pain. You were blessed to have him in your life, and I know he loved you so.

I love you darling and want you lean on me. I am always there for you girl.
