Vern slipped away peacefully on July 26, 2018 with family present at Rest Haven Lodge in Sidney.
Born on December 6, 1929 in Victoria, BC, Vern attended Beacon Hill and Mt. View schools.
While roller skating, Vern met Beverley and they married in 1953.
He is survived by his wife Beverley, daughter Elaine (Alan), son Jim (Sue) and enjoyed his grandchildren Brad, Debra, Eric and Mark.
Vern enjoyed life in the Highlands, camping, fishing and boating.
He loved animals, especially his dogs, their family farm and gardening.
A Celebration of Vern’s Life will be held in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive, on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 2:30 pm. Gordon Thurston, Celebrant.

I was so very sorry to hear today that Vern has passed away. My sincere condolences to you all. Vern was a lovely man with a good sense of humour. I have fond memories of Phil taking me out to visit you in the highlands and having a good cup of tea with goats milk. Please know that my thoughts are with you at this difficult time.
