Victor passed away suddenly at home on June 9, 2019 at age 51. He is survived by his beloved mother (whom he lived with) Sue Donald; and his sister, Linda Yee and her family from Nova Scotia, brother-in-law, Dr. Kenny Yee, niece Laura Yee and nephew Colin Yee.

Victor was predeceased by his father, Tony Chan; step-father, Doug Donald; and nephew, Andrew Yee.

“Vic”, as he was known to his family and friends, was born and grew up in Malaysia.  He moved with his mother and sister to Victoria, BC when Sue married Doug Donald in 1984.  After graduating from Mount Douglas High School in Victoria, he moved to Toronto where he trained in Dental Technology at George Brown College.  After working several years in Toronto, Victor moved to Vancouver, and finally back to Victoria when he retrained as a Personal Care Worker.  Everyone who knew Vic know his high standard of professionalism in the care that he provided to all of his clients.  He always went above and beyond the call of duty when it came to work.  He was also an avid fitness buff!  He certainly had his share of injuries and surgeries but that never kept him from an active lifestyle, the result was clearly obvious just by looking at Vic! He loved his bicycles. Every bike was assembled from the best of parts that he carefully chose (from eBay).

Vic was really gifted with his hands. This was obvious even in his childhood days. This is the reason he chose Dental Tech as his profession. This wonderful talent was also manifested in his love of building and painting plastic Model toys. His room always displayed the many hours of meticulous work on military vehicles like tanks and planes. Vic’s models toys were prize winners at local competitions. Vic also loved his RC toys. He started with RC racing cars but eventually became an Air Soft gun enthusiast, collector and eBayer. Star Wars and all its collectibles also became his passion. He was a Star Wars Nut, studying the details of every episode right down to the minutest detail. And so Vic became known as a Collector in his own right.

On that fateful Sunday morning of June 9, 2019, our family lost a son, brother, and uncle. Our community lost a Health Care Professional; an Airsoft and Star Wars Collector, and a Friend. Vic will always be loved, and sorely missed….

A Funeral Service will be held in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive on Sunday, June 16, 2019 at 2 pm with reception to follow. Cremation on a later date has been arranged.

In lieu of flowers, donations to BC Mental Health and Substance Use Services or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.

Condolences may be offered to the family below.

To all of Vic’s treasured family,
I have been friends with Vic for the past 14 years and I am devistated at his passing. He was always such a generous and kind friend to me. We would spend many hours sharing in our love of collecting our Star wars and other hobbies.
Victor would take time in trying to teach me new things about how do do repairs, or show me how he would completely need a new part for something that he would just fabricate himself… A jack of all trades with his talents.
My sincere thoughts are with his lovely mother who was very kind with me.
I am very appreciative for the time that I had knowing him, you will be missed friend.

    Love Dave
