In Loving Memory of Vivian Anita Love
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Vivian Anita Love, 91, on November 26, 2024. Known affectionately as Vicki, she was a beloved mother, cherished grandmother, and dear friend to many.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Arthur Roy Love, who passed away in 2013. Vicki is survived by her four sons: Roy, Erik, Mark, and David, along with their children: Amber, Allison, Megan, Katherine, and Samantha. Vicki is also survived by her stepdaughters Sarah, Morgan, and Cassie, and their children: Mackenzie, Madeline, Wesley, Dorthy, and Edith. She will also be missed by her sister-in-law, Dr. Marion Love.
Born on August 22, 1933, in Toronto, Ontario, Vicki lived a rich and fulfilling life, full of love, laughter, and kindness. She had a deep passion for art and was always eager to socialize, entertain, and share her warmth with others. As a passionate artist, she expressed herself through painting and pottery. Her creative spirit was complemented by a deep love of travel and fashion. Throughout her life, she lived in various exotic and sometimes challenging locations while Arthur worked for Alcan, including Toronto, Bermuda, Jamaica, Guyana, Switzerland, Arvida, Kitimat, and Montreal. These experiences sparked a lifelong love of travel, and after Arthur’s retirement, they continued to explore the world together.
After visiting Victoria, British Columbia, early in her life, Vicki was determined to make it her home. In 1991, she moved to the city she considered the most beautiful in Canada and never looked back. She embraced the local climate, the vibrant social scene, and became an active member of several organizations, including the Engineers’ Wives, Newcomers, the Union Club, the Walking Group, and the Uplands Golf Club.
Following Arthur’s passing, Vicki moved to Berwick Royal Oak, where she quickly formed lasting friendships. She found great joy in her social life there and took great pride in her beautifully decorated condo, filled with treasures and artwork she had collected throughout her travels.
A Celebration of Life was held on Monday, December 2, 2024, at McCall Gardens Sequoia Centre, 4665 Falaise Drive, Victoria, BC. Family and friends were invited to share memories, stories, and celebrate Vicki’s beautiful life.
A heartfelt thank you to the wonderful staff at Berwick Royal Oak for their care and support during her 10 years there. We also extend our gratitude to the exceptional staff at Royal Jubilee Hospital, whose kindness and care meant so much to Vicki.

Harvey Brooks While I knew Art more closely than Vicki, as we were both part of the same group that has played for years at Uplands, whenever I met her she was invariably gracious and kind, and interested in what I was doing. We had some great conversations and I am glad to have known her.

Sue Fleck I first met Vicki when I moved into Berwick, Royal Oak. She was my helpful “ambassador” from the very first day and was so instrumental in “ showing me the ropes “ of my new home here. Vicki made me feel settled and welcome at Berwick, and continued to invite me to meet many new and interesting friends, either in her wonderfully appointed suite or magical garden balcony where we could watch hummingbirds dart in and out of the hibiscus hiding in the profusion of foliage and miniature waterfalls.
I enjoyed her stories, garnered from her many experiences from living abroad as much as I enjoyed seeing her lovely collection of paintings and pottery tucked in and around her comfortable suite that included pictures of her grandchildren posted on the fridge. She rejoiced in her family and was proud of their accomplishments.
I didn’t know Vicki as long as many, but I will cherish her as a gracious and kind friend. Although saddened by her increasing health challenges, I noted her indefatigable grit in the face of all .. Vicki was both” grace and grit”, and I will remain grateful for her presence.
As one of the Alzheimer’s “Group of Seven”, Vicki was one of our colorful group. As we traveled our husbands’ Alzheimer’s journey together we have always been a source of comfort to each other. Vicki’s passing has been very much a surprise. At this time we will be thinking about the family.
She spoke so fondly of you all and we were so impressed by the pictures she shared of her beautiful grandchildren.
Vicki will be remembered also for her appreciation of the arts. Talented as she was her home was like a showcase of talent – hers and others….
