On behave of Rena OHara, I offer sincere sympathy to the family on the passing of your wonderful mother, Jean. She was a good friend to my mother, who misses her terribly. We have been hearing stories of their time together which contained lots of love and laughter. Mum is unable to attend Mass but you are all in her prayers daily.

  • Leona Jickling Brown

My heartfelt sympathy goes to Timothy and to all members of Jean’s family. My Mom, Marguerite Jickling, was a long time friend to Jean. Jean never flagged in her commitment to the friendship, phoning Mom for long chats and visiting Marguerite at her care home when one of her children was free to bring her down from Duncan. Their friendship stretched back to when Tim and Frances were friends with my brother and sister – Douglas and Patricia. The two women supported each other by sharing care of the children, sharing produce from the garden and by sharing stories. Marguerite has a memory of Mrs Schauerte leaving a loaf of home made bread, a pan of rolls and a jar of jam on our back porch the day after Marguerite’s Mom passed away. She is still touched by this kindness delivered when she was so sad.
I am unable to attend the funeral service, however, I think that Jean would understand as Tuesdays are the day I volunteer in the kitchen at the Mustard Seed. I send love not only from my heart but also from my Mom and from my husband, Mark, who knows Tim.

    Timothy

My mom was very touched by your recent visit to share the sad news of your dear mother’s passing.
    Thank you.
She called me shortly after to share your sad news. Your mom and my mom, Marguerite, were great friends.
In 1967, my Grandmother Newell, mom’s dear mom, passed away. A day later, she opened the back door and your mom, Jean, stood there with her famous home baked bread and jam, which was a gift from above, according to my mom. My mom has shared many happy memories of their friendship. My father would also the fresh vegetables from our huge
    garden on Lydia Street.
Condolences to you all. Your mom is with those who have gone before.

Marilyn Hewitt on behalf of Marguerite Jickling and our family.
