It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mom, Grandma and Great Grandma, Yvonne Berben, predeceased by Peter Berben

Yvonne Berben was born in the Netherlands and immigrated to Canada with her husband Peter on their honeymoon in 1959, later raising their two boys Alfred and Richard.

Yvonne was a strong independent woman who loved the outdoors and camping with her family. With her husband Peter, they spent many months of travel exploring all the beauties in every corner of Canada.

Yvonne’s first and foremost passion was for her family, creating a unique closeness that’s obvious in the next generations.

On February 14th, 2025, Yvonne lost her battle with a sudden illness, passing peacefully in her sleep at home, Alfred and Richard were with her at the time.

Yvonne will be missed by her close friends, her extended family in Holland and by sons Alfred, Richard (Valerie), Grandkids, Matthew (Avril), Michael (Brittney), Nicholas (Kayleigh), Alysha (Erik) Great Grandchildren, Tessa and Emily and by Karen, mother to Alysha and Nicholas.

In lieu of flowers, the family humbly requests donations to the Cancer Society.

I’m deeply saddened that we have lost our beloved family matriarch, Yvonne. When I say “we”, I am a family member who dearly loved her and spent precious time with her on my visits out west. We were two very close great grandmothers who bragged and boasted to each other about how lucky we are and what wonderful families we have…especially our beautiful great grand daughters.

To Richard/Val, Alfred, and all the children, may the treasured memories of your Mom, Grandma, (GG) great Grandma help ease your overwhelming grief. It’s so hard to say goodbye to one so loved but I know as a family you will find the strength and courage to get through together.

Soar with the angels my dear friend Yvonne. “We’ll meet again, don’t know where, don’t know when but I know we’ll meet again some sunny day”.
