It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Edward Ginn Chow who slipped away peacefully on March 30, 2018 at Victoria Hospice, in the early morning after his 86th birthday.

Ed is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, May, his brothers Jon and Tom (Betty) and many family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

Ed was predeceased by his parents, his sisters Virginia, Rose, Daisy, Pearl and brother Bill.

Ed was born on March 29, 1932 in Victoria, B.C. and worked as an automotive machinist at Reynolds Colgate until it closed.  In Ed’s youth, he enjoyed hunting and scuba diving.  He also enjoyed swimming at the YM-YWCA where he was a member since 1959.  Since joining in 1964, Ed was an active member of the Victoria Chinatown Lions Club.  Ed held many positions through the years such as President of his own club, and was the District Governor for 19-I at the International level.  To many, he was also known as one of the owners of B & E Market at the corner of Fort and Cook.  Brothers Bill (B) and Ed (E) worked there until it changed ownership in 1988.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive, Victoria, BC on Monday, April 9, 2018 at 1:00 pm.

We lost a very special person when Ed passed away.
Ed was a guiding Lion with a heart of gold. It was always a pleasure to see Ed (always with May) at Lions functions for the last 32 years. Also being a neighbour he always would comment and make sure
Our gardens were in order. When we plant this year we will dedicate the garden to Ed.

Dear Friend May- It has been so many years since we last met, but I have always appreciated knowing you in high school and as a bridesmaid at our wedding. I too have lost my beloved husband Art in Feb.2017 after caring for him for several years as he slipped away into vascular dementia. I send my deepest sympathy to you and wishes for your peace of heart as you mourn your loss. Take good care of yourself as you will need rest and recovery. Your large community of friends will be great support. Though I did not know Ed well I perceived that he was a wonderful man. My love and respect.

Farewell to an extraordinary gentleman. We are sad that he is parted from the love of his life on earth, but know he is with those who are greeting him with open arms and big smiles in heaven. He may not have had children of his own but was blessed with loving, caring nieces and nephews who have helped to shoulder the myriad duties of filial daughters and sons. We are grateful to have known him and to have called him friend. With warmest Aloha, gentle hugs to Auntie May.
