It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Glenda Cheramy at the Royal Jubilee Hospital on October 09.  She leaves her husband John, son Rob (Linda), daughter Vicki (Andy), and brother Bruce as well as nieces and nephews.

Glenda will be remembered for her generosity, her patience, her sense of humour, her quiet intelligence and her love of words.  She was a perfectionist and admired by all who knew her.

She enjoyed music, was an accomplished pianist in her earlier years, and fostered that love in her family members with her support and encouragement.  She embraced technology and kept her husband in the 21st century.  She had a love of history and developed numerous friendships among historians, local and afar.  In her later years, she developed a keen interest in golf, frequenting Mount Doug regularly.  She had a beautiful swing.

The family would like to offer thanks to Dr. Medhurst for his ongoing care and support, as well as the doctors and staff at the Royal Jubilee Hospital for all their help for the last two years.

At Glenda’s request, there will be no formal service.  Her ashes will be scattered in locations she loved.

Condolences may be offered to the family below.

    Dear John,
I was sad to learn about Glenda’s passing. When I saw you on October 1st you mentioned that she was ill. The few times I met her at the Cedar Hill Rec Centre on Tuesday mornings she impressed me as an intelligent, engaged woman.

I met Glenda in the early 1980s when I was first working in the stamp business in Vancouver. At the time I was actively collecting postcards of Ocean Falls BC, my home town. John and Glenda were on my side as a collector, always thrilled to find me something new. Whenever I saw Glenda she was cheerful with a ready smile. Someone so steadfast it seemed she’d be around forever. John, please accept Andrew’s and my sincere condolences for your loss.
