Joe passed peacefully on January 14, 2017 in the James Bay Care Centre with family by his side. He was born on the family farm just outside Leoville, Saskatchewan and had a career as a grain buyer for Saskatchewan Wheat Pool. He bought the general store in Conquest, south of Saskatoon, in the early sixties but left that for the lure of Victoria in 1965. Ten years later, he returned to Saskatoon and spent the rest of his working career as a grain auditor with Cargill. He was a man of the land and never lost his passion for his vegetable garden. In 1992, Joe retired to Victoria and was most active as a volunteer at the Cook Street Senior Activity Centre where he ran Tuesday Bridge for many years.

He was predeceased by his wife Eileen. He is survived by his five children, Barry (Gay)/Victoria, Betty (Gordon)/Hawaii, Evelyn (David)/Victoria, Dennis/Calgary, and Joanne/Saskatoon; grandchildren, Michael, Laura, Matthew and Brittany and very close friend, Judy.

There will be a memorial service in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive at 2 pm on Friday, January 20, 2017 for family and friends to say goodbye.

Flowers and cards can be sent to 3281 Woodburn Ave, Victoria BC, V8P 5B8.
