Howard treasured life and was treasured in turn by those he truly loved. He lived his life with joy, enthusiasm, honour, integrity, humour and selflessness.
A celebration of his life will be held at a future date.

John Reilly Howard was a great example to me of a man who had figured out how to live his life to the fullest. I shall miss his witty retorts and his genuine warmth. I believe he recognized the boy in me who lost his father young as he often extended the hand of wisdom when he felt it appropriate. I through Howard was privileged to meet Margaret who formed the other pillar of this caring couple. My deepest sympathy and respect goes out to Margaret and the family. Bless you all.
Although I only knew him for a short 12 years, Howard was one of my ten most unforgettable people. I’ll miss him and his direct sense of humor. I’ll never forget our trip to Seattle where we had a run in with Homeland Security at the Border.
What I always admired about Howard was that, even though he had deep pockets, he never forgot who he was and where he came from. In other words, “he put his pants on one leg at a time”.
