On November 9, 2012, two months short of her 90th birthday, Jessie passed peacefully in the arms of her family after a stroke. Jessie was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth, in 1965. Survived by her daughter, Diana, (Michael), son, Roger and granddaughter, Marisa Palmer. Jessie was a teacher in the interior of BC and in Victoria during the 1940’s and early 50’s. She moved to her husband’s home of Oklahoma and lived there for 8 years before moving back to Victoria with her two children. Jessie was always deeply committed to her church, as Sunday School teacher, pianist and a member of the choir. She participated in the Silver Threads Choir for many years as pianist as well. She moved to Victoria, from Manitoba, when she was two years old and lived in the house her mother bought in 1945 until she was 89 ½ years old, except for the brief time in the United States. Jessie was always loving and generous to everyone she met. Her Victorian era parents were raised to be strongly independent, have solid principles and clear convictions and they passed these values on to her. Jessie had great passion for learning, philosophy and her cats. She has imparted a legacy of love to her family, which we will always cherish. She is now free to be “like the river running home to the sea”. “Thank you to the caring staff at Arbutus View for the loving support they provided Mom.”

A Celebration of Her Life will take place in the Spring. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the SPCA. Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Dear Diana, Roger, Michael and Marissa,
What a lovely, heartfelt tribute to a great, great lady! Aunt Jessie was such a joy; always so full of life and always SO PROUD of her family! I always loved her beautiful accent, her beautiful voice and her great sense of humor! Clearly, after reading the notes above, Aunt Jessie touched many hearts and stretched many minds. I can only imagine the awesome Williamson Reunion they are all having in Heaven! God bless you!

Dear Diana, Roger, Marisa and Michael

Hope is abundant in the times of loss. The eight years ya’ll (Diana & Roger) spent in Oklahoma was the time for you to bond with Mamaw and Pampaw. They both so enjoyed Aunt Jessie’s company and loved to have you two there so close, since all of us lived in different states or parts of Oklahoma.

We did feel that Aunt Jessie made the right choice to go back to her roots in Canada all thos years ago.

She was always so quites, sweet and centered that we knew ya’ll would always be well loved and cared for.

Thank you for sharing youselfs with all your distance relatives, cousins and aunts.

    Respectfully,

    Danney & Antonett Williamson
(A small part of the Williamson Family, as are ya’ll)

    Dear Family,
Your Mother was my grade one teacher at Strawberry Vale School back in 1952. I have always had very fond memories of her as a teacher, Sunday School teacher, church choir member at Wilkinson Road United Church and her laugh!
My Mother just passed away in October at 96. My thoughts are with you at this time.
    Sincerely, Edith Newman (Boon)

Sylvia Kirby ( Schoderbeck ) says:
Dear Diana: I read yesterday’s paper of your mother’s passing. Such a great age with lots of living years to share with your family. I hope your mother’s passing was peaceful and that you all will take comfort in knowing that she is resting in heaven now. We both are on similar paths with our mothers, as mine is in palliative care and only has a day or two left. May the good Lord comfort you all at this time.
God Bless, Sylvia & Howard Kirby
