January 11, 1948 – January 5, 2013

It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the unexpected death of Doug in Victoria, B.C. Doug was born and raised on the Saanich Peninsula and farmed with the rest of the family growing vegetables before leaving for Alberta. Doug left in 1975 for Brooks, Alberta where he had been farming for the last 37 years with brother Whaley. Predeceased by both parents and sister Beverley Beal, he is survived by brothers and sisters Gertrude, William, Lily, Betty (Ark Jang), Violet, Whaley (Brooks, Alta), Jack (Patty), Jim and Patricia; six nieces and nephews – Marilyn, Wendy, Arthur (Cecil) of Burnaby and Douglas Jang; Nickolas and Jennifer Mar; plus numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Doug enjoyed sports, played hockey, hunted and fished. He also liked to participate in plowing matches and having won several Canadian Plowing Matches won the right to represent Canada at the World Plowing matches in 1980 New Zealand, 1986 Olds Alta, 1987 Austria and 1998 Germany. He also taught and coached young and future plowmen in Alberta. Private service was held January 15, 2013.
