Our sweetheart Georgia passed away suddenly as a result of a house fire 2 months short of her 23rd birthday on February 16, 2013. She leaves behind her parents, Patricia Truman and Stephen Klap, brother, Sam, and many relatives and friends. She entered the world as a strong presence born at home in the countryside near Calgary on April 23, 1990. A creative, kind, loving and beautiful soul, Georgia touched many lives as she packed in lots of living in her short time here. With her background in Waldorf education, she combined her talents and love of nature to take up Environmental Studies at the University of Victoria. With integrity, respect and a strong sense of justice, she lived out her beliefs in social action for causes close to her heart. She was a passionate, loving, thoughtful and wise spirit that will be in our hearts forever. Corazona, que te vaya bien con Dios.

A funeral service and reception will be held on Friday, February 22 at 10:30 am at McCall’s Funeral Home, Johnson & Vancouver Streets, Victoria, BC followed by a green burial.   Donations in memory of Georgia can be made to her family and will be given to those causes dear to her.  Contact information for the family is as follows:

My sincere sympathies to Georgia’s family and friends,

It is never easy to loose someone so young and vibrant with so much to offer the world. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

This scripture has buoyed me during my times of stress and grief and I hope it has a similar affect.

“The righteous themselves will possess the earth, And they will reside forever upon it.” – Psalm 37:29

    Sincerely,

    Dear Pat, Steve and Sam:
My heart pours out to you. I did not find out about Georgia until after the funeral. I feel numb. Such a wonderful, beautiful person with great integrity and musical ability. I so enjoyed being a part of Georgia’s life when she came for horn lessons. I looked forward to her lessons. She was always full of questions and always gave 110 %. Georgia did more living in her too short life than most people do in a lifetime. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Patty, Steve and Sam: For sure, life is not fair and it is times like this when it is hard to find meaning in such a senseless tragedy. Your little daughter had so much to give. Take care of yourself and your family as best you can. Take courage from the people who love you. From afar, Brenda.

To Patricia, Steve, and Sam, I am so sorry for your loss.
I was lucky to get to know Georgia during an Environmental Studies course I was TA’ing. She stood out to me as a bright woman who was very passionate about learning and using her knowledge to improve the world. She was outspoken in class and often stayed after to discuss her ideas further. The last time I saw her was a couple of weeks ago at a local music event. She was dancing and smiling. This is how I will remember her.
Wishing you the best during this time of grief and healing.

I wish you well and send you love from the other side of the country. Jen
