Pat passed away peacefully in his sleep aged 96. He was predeceased by brother Bud; sister Carmen; son, Norman Laurie; daughter, Anita; wife, Mickey; common-law wife, Dorothy and very special friend, Jane. He is survived by his loving daughter, Selene, son Terry (Jean); grandsons Ken, Dave (Jennifer), Ray and Dennis (Ruby); granddaughters Wendy, Linda, Kim, Deanna, Charlene (Chris) and Trudy; great-grandchildren Cole, Andrew, Heather and Rynjil; and niece, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
The great-grandson of pioneers, Henry & Eliza Wilby, Pat was born in the home built by his parents, Sarah and Harry. After apprenticing as an automobile upholsterer at Davis Drake Motors he became one of the finest watch repairmen in Victoria. He worked at Dockyard during the war, worked at Peoples Credit Jewellers, owned a watch repair business on Oak Bay Avenue and a pawn/second hand store on Yates St. known as Victoria Trading. A poet, photographer, craftsman and life long lover of puns and practical jokes, Pat’s greatest pleasure was in spending time with people. He was always ready with a coffee and a story and everyone, young and old, revelled in hearing him tell all his tales: from owning an Alligator named Charlie to being robbed at gunpoint. He will be sadly missed by all his friends and family.

A memorial tea will be held Thursday, May 30, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Sequoia Gardens Memorial, 4665 Falaise Drive, Saanich, BC. Condolences may be offered below.
