Jeffries, Nellie-2Born on January 10th, 1916 in Winnipeg and raised in the Souris area; passed away January 5th, 2014 in Victoria with family by her side.  Predeceased by her husband, George, Nellie is survived by daughter Debbie (Tony) Ibaraki, son Kevin (Linda), grandchildren Mariko, Lauren, James and Katelyn, and the Tobler family.

Each day, our mother Nellie enjoyed life to the fullest.  She loved having a cup of tea with family and friends, sharing a joke, napping with the cat in her lap, sewing and coaxing a single flower to blossom.  These everyday things helped her to meet life’s many challenges with grace, dignity and strength.  Mom loved people; wherever she went people loved her.  She always accepted each person unconditionally.  Mom will be greatly missed, and will be forever in our hearts.

How can we ever forget her welcoming embraces and the twinkle in her eyes. That beautiful soul behind that beautiful smile will warm our hearts forever. Special people are never forgotten.

    Rest in peace, Mrs. J.

    Soar like an eagle

As you soar like an eagle
or glide softly like a swan,
when the night begins to fade
    in the early morning dawn.

We hold you in our memories
in the things we see and do,
all those special things you did
    that’s how we remember you.

A swan gliding on a lake
a batch of cookies that we bake,
    a field of daisies that we see;
reminders of what used to be.

    Our memories may be different
though some thoughts will be the same,
but there’ll always be a special spot
    for our amazing “dame”

She will be greatly missed. She was one of the sweetest people I have ever encountered in my life and probably the sweetest that I ever WILL encounter.
    My condolences to everyone.

We are so sorry for your loss! No matter the age of the person gone or of the people left behind, that person has left a huge void. A mom is always a mom…no matter what. With that comes special feelings and memories. No words can explain what it feels like to lose a parent.
We hope you keep close and in good contact with eachother. Love the pictures of your mom…she was indeed a sweet and very friendly lady.
Take care. We will see you soon. xo
