July 22, 1923 – May 13, 2014

Passed away peacefully surrounded by family.  William was the devoted husband of Nora; loving father to Susan and Gina; father-in-law to Tom and Paul; grandfather to Brittany, Jaryd, Aaron and Aisha; great-grandfather to Londyn.  Born in Poland, William emigrated to Canada at the age of 7 with his mother, Polly and sister, Mary to join their father, Naum, who had previously come to Manitoba, Canada.  Three more siblings, Stephen, Nettie and Frank were born in Canada.  In 1942, he joined the Navy and served Canada until 1945.  He settled on Vancouver Island where he met Nora (married 67 years) and together raised their family.  He started a painting apprenticeship with the Provincial Government where he became foreman and worked for 35 years.  He spent many years of his retirement travelling with Nora, visiting friends and family and enjoying playing golf.  He will be sadly missed and forever in our hearts.  Love you always dad!

Nora and Gina and Susan and family,

Please accept my deepest sympathies. Uncle Bill was a great man. I am so glad we were able to come visit for the family reunion a few years ago. Uncle Bill taught me all about horse racing. He even helped me win a few races. We chatted on the phone over the years and I will miss those call. Love to all the family.

Dear Nora Susan Gina and your family

I am sorry to read of the loss of your dad. It’s been along time ago when we were last in touch. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Favorite memories were swimming at crystal pool and of course the best plums in the neighbourhood.

Dear Aunt Nora and family – It is sad that Uncle Bill is gone. We have good memories of him – including his joy at treating us to that special meal – fish and chips! He was always so kind and thoughtful when we visited. We enjoyed talking with him on the phone over the years. Sixty seven years of marriage – wow! He will be missed.
