Nelson Yee Shom Lee, born on 7 July 1917 in Canton, Guandong, passed away on 21 February 2016 in Victoria, BC surrounded by his family. Nelson was an entrepreneur who worked in China and Taiwan before immigrating to Canada in 1974. To those who knew Nelson, he was a loyal friend who could never do enough for people. He loved his family and believed in sharing his traditional and cultural heritage whenever he could. He wanted to make a difference to society by giving back and volunteering in local organizations.
Nelson leaves his beloved wife of 73 years, Dottie; his children, Tina, Carol (Joseph), Benson (Cathy), Ava (Claudio); his grandchildren, Angela (Brian), Tanya (Danny), Janice (Jonathan), Pamela and Tiffany and his great grandchildren, Julianna, Matthew and Chanelle.
The funeral service will take place at 1:00 pm on Saturday, 27 February 2016 at McCall’s Downtown, Johnson & Vancouver Streets, for family and friends to bid a final farewell.
The family thanks all who Nelson had the privilege to know and kindly ask that in lieu of flowers, please make donations to the local cancer care/research centre of your choice.
