Claire passed away suddenly at her home on February 23rd. She leaves behind her husband, Donald of 60 years; daughter, Dawn Pomponio (Bob); son, Timothy Gunderson and daughter, Cindy Young (Martin); 4 grandsons, Bryce Pomponio, Clayton Pomponio, Tyson Young, Darren St. Laurent and one great-granddaughter, Taya Young. Claire was born in Montreal, Quebec and grew up in Saskatchewan where she graduated Teacher’s College and taught in small country schools for a few years before following her husband to be to Victoria where they married on September 30, 1955. Her husband served a full career with the Navy and they have resided in Esquimalt since 1963.
A Memorial Service with a reception to follow will be held at McCall’s Downtown, Johnson & Vancouver Streets at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2016. Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Sorry to hear of Claire’s passing. You guys were our favorite people at the campgrounds. We had hoped to get there last summer. We are so sorry that we didn’t get to see you.
