Beverly Lorna Hope (nee Tischer), passed away in Sidney, BC on Saturday, March 26, 2016.
Beverly was a wife, mother and grandmother, living a full life that was all about friendships, fun, and most of all, family. Bev married the man of her dreams, Doug, in 1962 and they enjoyed 51 years of love and adventure until Doug’s passing in 2014. In Edmonton, they raised a family, worked hard, took great vacations and hosted a legendary Christmas Eve open house for four decades.
Bev was exceptionally proud of her two children, Joanne (Jay) and Cameron (Sara), and she thought the world of her granddaughters, Amy and Jenna. Bev was predeceased by her father Rudy, her mother Bernice, and her husband Doug. She is survived by her children, grandchildren and many relatives.
Bev had a gift for knitting, a keen eye for style, and a maestro’s touch in the kitchen. She could cook anything, anywhere, and collected more recipes than she could make in two lifetimes. After Doug’s passing, Bev moved to Sidney and truly enjoyed her time there. She drove her Fiat 500 around town, cheered for the Victoria Royals, grew roses and tomatoes on her balcony, and always had too much baking ready for anyone who dropped in for a visit. Her annual trips to Bates Beach (near Comox), and occasional getaways to Hawaii, were really all about spending time with the people she loved. Bev will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed.
A celebration of Bev’s life will be held at a future date.

Vickii Williams On behalf of Mom and the rest of our family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the loss of your much loved Mom and Grandma. We have many fond memories of her from over the years including coffee visits and craft get-togethers with Bev’s hosting (aka ‘feasts’) being the most popular. More recently, through her and Mom’s frequent phone chats, we’ve received reports of her happiness with her decision to move to the coast and being nearer to you.

Daphne Price My deepest sympathy, Cameron and Joanne! I vividly remember how supportive your mom was during your time at Delwood School. The costumes and dance choreography were outstanding because your mom was so connected to Shelley’s dance studio. Both of you children starred in all the concerts.
She was so proud of how successful you both were in your schooling and she was with you every step of the way. Yes, Mom had a wonderful smile and great laugh throughout all her challenges always remaining positive and strong.
May you be comforted with all the great memories you made together as a loving family.mDaphne Price

Wow a surprise to me to read the obituary of Beverly. In my 80’s I sometimes search for friends of my past. Researching Dennis and Doug Hope, I learned of their passing and today saw the obituary of Beverly Lorna Hope (nee Tischer). Beverly Tischer is a name from my past that I recognize and it surprised me. Saw that she was married to Doug for many years. Again I find out that ships pass in the night as I resided in View Royal (Victoria) area from 2009 to 2020 when I moved back to Calgary. Sounds like the two of them had great memories.
