With his wife by his side, Pierre quickly and peacefully passed away without further pain at the Salvation Army Sunset Lodge. He leaves to mourn his wife, Sylvia Boivin (née Stephens) and his three sons, Thomas J. C. Boivin (Regina), Michael G. Boivin (Victoria) and Mitch and his wife, Ruj (Calgary). Pierre is also survived by siblings, Nicole de Sampaio (partner Marc) – Gatineau, Denis Boivin (wife Collette) – Outaouais, and Claude (wife Mireille) – Saint-Félicien, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Pierre was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Air Force and most recently Flight Commander and Navigator for 407 Squadron, Comox, until a car accident left him severely brain-injured, changing his life and that of his family forever. A heartfelt tribute to the loving staff at the Salvation Army’s Sunset Lodge, and to the profoundly kind Dr. J. A. Saffrey.
We will miss you always, Pierre, but we know that “HE will lift you up on Eagle’s Wings.”
The Funeral Mass will be conducted by Father Paul Szczur on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 798 Goldstream Avenue, Langford. Interment will be at a later date at Royal Oak Burial Park.

Denny Thomas To Silvia and all the Boivin Family:
It was with sadness that I learned of Pierre’s passing. Pierre was a neat guy and I liked him. He was a valuable member of the 407 squadron team at Comox and a good guy to work with.
I will drink a toast or two to Pierre and the times at work when he would try to explain computer things to me and most of it would go right over my head but he never got discouraged.

We wish to extend our sympathy to all of you. We have many fond memories of Pierre both as a fellow crew member for many years and as a good friend in Greenwood. In particular we remember Pierre’s culinary skills on Argus trips and especially one Mothers’ Day when he cooked supper for us while Roseanne was awaiting Jeremy’s birth. We remember Jeremy’s baptism with you and Pierre as proxy godparents until Pierre got scrambled and Father Bourgeois had to stop washing his car and step in. We hope memories of those early happier days will comfort you.

Dave Fletcher, LCol (Ret'd) It’s the little memories we hold on to – Pierre helping me to pick out a camera in the Azores and the fact that our crew had left-handers outnumbering right-handers. Pierre’s good humour was a major attribute and must have helped sustain him through the difficult years. To Sylvia and family, my sincere condolences. Adieu, Pierre.
