Ruby passed away peacefully in Victoria on June 26, 2016 at the age of 75. Ruby is predeceased by both her parents; her sister, Vivian Pasichnuk; brother, Peter Zoopkow and son, Brent Sandulac. She is survived by sisters, Mary Odowichuk of St. Paul, AB and Celia Sandulac of 100 Mile House, BC; grandson, Adam Sandulac of Vancouver; son, David Picton and granddaughters, Savannah and Sienna Picton of Kelowna, BC. Ruby will also be lovingly remembered by many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Ruby was born in Elk Point, Alberta on May 18th, 1941 and spent her early years in and around the Glendon area. As a young adult, she ventured to BC and settled in Vancouver. She held many interesting jobs, including her favourite at Canada Place in the years leading up to Expo 86. Ruby’s two passions were travel and golf, and she had many exciting adventures from around the globe. Retirement then took her to Vernon and then to Victoria where she continued to enjoy golf until her health began to fail. Ruby put up a courageous battle against ALS in the determined and independent way that she lived life. She is at peace now, surrounded by the loved ones that left us first.
Ruby will be laid to rest between her parents near Glendon. In her words, “I lay between them as a baby, so now I will lay between them for eternity…”
There will be a service and family gathering held at a later date in St Paul.
Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Renie M. Cairns I am very saddened at the passing of my dear friend Rube. Our lives paralleled over the years-in Vegreville where we met at 15 yrs.,in Edmonton, Vancouver and then Victoria. We could have lunch, catch a movie and we spoke once a week on Tuesday at 2:00pm precisely (she insisted). I shared her despair in the midst of her battle with ALS and she was stoic till the end. I have no doubt we will meet again, perhaps on a Tuesday at 2:00pm !!

Mary Bodnarek
