Dear Mom – Another year has come and gone. And what a year it was!
Thinking of you always and loving you forever.
Beautiful Mother
Beautiful Mother you had a heart of gold
How much we miss you can never be told
You shared our troubles and helped us along
Following your footsteps, we will never go wrong
We miss you from your fireside chair
Your loving smile and gentle air
Your vacant place no one can fill
We miss you Mother and always will
On earth you toiled, in heaven you rest
God bless you Mother; you were the best!
Until we meet again, rest in peace, dear beautiful Mother.
Still living your motto – “Garden Forever – Housework Whenever”
With all our love, Mardi and David – 2021
Dear Mom – Another year has come and gone. Thinking of you always and loving you forever.
Wonderful Mother of Mine
The moon never beams
without bringing me dreams
Of that wonderful mother of mine
The birds never sing
But a message they bring
Of that wonderful mother of mine
There are treasures on earth
that make life seem worthwhile
But there’s none that compare
to my mother’s beautiful smile
You hold a spot down deep in my heart
Until the stars no longer shine
Your soul shall live on forever
All through the fields of time
For there’ll never be another to me
Wonderful Mother of Mine
Until we meet again,
rest in peace, dear beautiful Mother.
Living your motto
“Garden Forever – Housework Whenever”.
With all our love, Mardi and David – 2020
Dear Mom – Another year has come and gone. Thinking of you always and loving you forever.
My Mother, My Angel
Once upon a time an angel held my hand,
she wiped away my tears and helped me understand.
Our time on earth is brief, there’s lessons to be learned,
each precious day God gives us another page is turned.
Every chapter full of memories, times of joy and tears,
triumphs and defeats through every passing year.
She loved me unconditionally, always by my side,
when no one else would listen in her I could confide.
With gentle words of wisdom she led me on my way,
down the paths of righteousness if ever I did stray.
She saw the light in everyone and gave with no regrets,
always from her heart, let us not forget.
Angels come in many forms, for me it is my mother,
with love I cannot say in words, there’ll never be another.
Every day I turn the page in my heart will ever remain,
everything she taught me as I stroll down memory lane.
Thank you God for giving me the most priceless of all treasures,
help me Lord to keep alive her memory here forever.
I pray that I can some day be everything she hoped I would,
that she’s smiling down from heaven knowing she did good.
Missing you more than words can say.
Forever thankful that we are surrounded by your love and kindness.
Until we meet again, rest in peace, dear beautiful mother.
With all over love Mardi and David – 2019

Finding You In Beauty
The rays of light filtered through
The sentinels of trees this morning.
I sat in the garden and contemplated.
The serenity and beauty
Of my feelings and surroundings
Completely captivated me.
I thought of you.
I discovered you tucked away
In the shadows of the trees.
Then, rediscovered you
In the smiles of the flowers
As the sun penetrated their petals
In the rhythm of the leaves
Falling in the garden
In the freedom of the birds
As they fly searching as you do.
I’m very happy to have found you.
Now you will never leave me
For I will always find you in the beauty of life.
Missing you more than words can say.
Forever thankful that we are surrounded by your love and kindness.
Until we meet again, rest in peace, dear beautiful mother.
With all our love Mardi and David – 2018
Dear Mom – It’s been a year since I hugged you and kissed you goodbye but only minutes since I said “I Love You Mom”.
ONE MOTHER
You can only have one mother
Patient, kind and true;
No other friend in all the world,
Will be the same to you.
When other friends forsake you,
To mother you will turn,
For all her loving kindness,
She asks nothing in return.
As we look upon her picture,
Sweet memories we recall,
Of a face so full of sunshine,
And a smile for one and all.
Sweet Jesus take this message,
To our dear mother up above;
Tell her how we miss her,
And give her all our love.
Missing you more than words can say but forever thankful that we are surrounded by your love and kindness. Until we meet again, rest in peace, dear beautiful mother.
With all our love Mardi and David – 2017
Recently, my beautiful mother Betty passed away peacefully in Victoria at the age of 92.
Born in Victoria, she was the youngest daughter of Edwin A. Carlow and Elizabeth F. “Lizzie” Carlow (nee Barr). Betty was a descendant of the pioneer Irvine family that immigrated to Victoria in 1851 from the Orkney Islands in Scotland.
Betty began her education at the original Craigflower School where she was awarded the book A Modern Cinderella “for ranking first – December 1932”. She continued her education at Victoria West School and was awarded the Principal’s Prize for the “top-ranking student in grade VIII’’, and she graduated from Victoria High School.
As a career legal secretary, Betty worked for a variety of lawyers at several law firms in Victoria, and was a charter member of the Victoria Legal Secretaries Association.
Over the years, she traveled Vancouver Island, California, Hawaii, Mexico, and Great Britain, cruised to Alaska, and drove her car round trip from Mile Zero in Victoria to St. John’s, Newfoundland, traveling easterly across the United States and returning through Canada.
Betty was an avid high scoring bowler and a member of the Saanich Silver Threads where she enjoyed playing Eucher with her friends and eating Chef Brian’s delicious meals. When visiting Port Angeles, she was always excited to make a trip or two to the casino and the Port Angeles Senior Center where she enjoyed playing her favorite game, cribbage. The luck of the Irish was always with her!
Mom knitted beautiful sweaters, dish cloths and doll clothes, and created treasured needlepoint for her home and her family. Her favourite pastime was gardening. “Garden Forever – Housework Whenever’’ was her motto.
Betty loved her family, all of them. She never spread gossip or said an unkind word about anyone. She was a true and loyal friend, and an unwavering Toronto Blue Jays fan. In addition to her parents, Betty was predeceased by her husband Maxwell Haynes who was born in St. John’s, Nfld.; her five siblings, Edwin P. Carlow, Helen J. Mortensen, Ruth C. Lalonde, Rowena J. Jones, and Robert N. Carlow; many nieces and nephews and wonderful friends. Surviving are her loving daughter Mardi and son-in-law David G. Sellars of Port Angeles, WA; and several nieces and nephews.
No services were held at her request. Cremation was followed by interment at Hatley Memorial Gardens.
Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Colleen Campbell Dear Mardi
I am sure David was fond of your dear Mom too, who would not be. You wrote a beautiful tribute to your mother, I just remember her being very dear and modest….she was a smart cookie! I regret not being able to keep in touch with you more, there are some times in life when it just cannot be. I will be in touch. I know there will be some sadness and so many memories, I hope too you will find some comfort knowing Betty has completed her journey after a full life during which she gave much back. Bless you, thinking of you, Colleen

I will truly miss my visits with Aunty B. We shared a lot of good times together laughing, driving around Victoria and of course playing crib. Even at 90 she could beat the pants off of me with a ‘winning smile’ on her beautiful face.
She is with family now, and at peace.

Viki Hamber She was a wonderful lady. So full of life and happiness. I always enjoyed her visits every year. My condolences to you Mardi and your family. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Mardi and David: I am so sorry to hear of your dear mother’s passing. I only met her a couple of times in California, but they were memorable visits. I can hear her lovely voice saying (mainly to David) “Oh, now Dearie”, don’t you…. followed by whatever mischief he was causing at the moment. Even today, he has the ability to copy her tone of voice when speaking about her. Mardi, I really admire your decades of dedication to your mom, even going so far as moving to PA. There are few others that I know that give so much to their parent(s). May you be blessed with God’s loving grace. Love, Billy
